Hello and welcome to the all new and improved Match day Hub which is now the official place for Gillingham fans, I decided to update this so that you will know where to go and chat before and during the game. This is here to replace the match day thread and the Starting Line up Prediction, this is where you will now be able to post all your team predictions and score updates. You can now just spend your match day in one place if you are not at the game. This is the thread for the upcoming game, I always post this thread before each game so that you can express your views on the corresponding fixture and can talk between each other during the game, You can post your team predictions before the game, you may include the starting 11 plus the subs which you think will be in the team, no points awarded for your predictions it is just for fun, it allows you to start a healthy debate between each other about the team which we will play or what it should be. If you wish you can post updates freely about the game and chat between yourselves, you are also free to talk about other games bizarre or not. This is open to both Gillingham fans and also the opposition After the match I will allow you all to create a summary on this thread and I will also provide extra details on the game if they are required or if I want to point anything out. You can talk about what was good about the game and what could have been better. During the game I will update the score and the team sheets as soon as they are available, also at the end I will add the table to this thread as it stands. This is here permanently so you will not see the Match day thread or the starting line up prediction threads as this is them combined.
I'm watching it on Sky Sports and the defending is woeful. There's no creativity in midfield. Just boot the ball up the pitch and see if someone can get on the end of it. Totally clueless.
No chance of a top ten finish if we continue playing like that. Forget automatic promotion and the play-offs! 14th to 16th is more likely!
Feel sorry for Gavin Tomlin who seems to be a bit of a star at present. Why have the Gills come unglued....since the win at Crawley?
We need play offs though, but there is only one team that we can catch but then if we do, we will need to hold on and we are not good at that.
Just got back from the game, forget about that first half, did that Tomlin goal look as good on tv has it did at the game? I said to my son before the game, Hessy needed to start Evans today but as usual started with the old soldiers despite conceding eight goals in the previous two games. Don't know what you all reckon from the tv viewing but I reckon Hessy should start with the line up we finished with. Also stop Richards with his hoof ball.
Yes agree, I think we also get a look at the Charlton player tomorrow Fortune. Just watched the Tomlin goal again, had the Sky set for it. This guy is not getting the headlines he so deserves because of that first half defence. Also Weston should have buried his chance late on, again after Tomlin's hard work.
Wish he had not started Montrose and Lawrence, said before the game I did not want them in the team, I said Evans instead of Lawrence and at the time said to have Whelpdale in the team instead of Montrose but with Payne available I would have started him and also add to that where was Spiller, he must not have made it in time.
What was really disappointing tonight was that, apart from the two goals, Southend didn't do much to threaten our goal. The shrimpers competed far better than Gills - that's all ( but more than enough to win most of the important passages of play .) When will Hess realise that Lawrence is a liability at right back. Montrose and Weston were poor in midfield - you could almost understand the hoofball that Richards deployed - there was not enough movement in midfield - so he just bypassed them - leading to the strikers having to fight for the ball in the air ( not that the delivery was often close to them.) I feel that the players did not try hard enough - until the last 3 (+5) minutes - If they could do it then, why not for the previous 87 minutes ? - THAT is a gross insult to the fans who paid good money to attend- I paid for 3 adult tickets and have travelled 100 miles for the match, plus catering - you work out how much it cost me - when I could have watched it on Sky - don't worry Hess I won't be asking for a refund. On a lighter note - does anyone know how many times the ball ended up in Gordon Road - I suspect a new record - my guess is 6. I might watch the replay on Sky tomorrow afternoon - just to count - and watch the great goal by Tomlin ( thanks Gavin )
Always right eh !!! Making the journey for that one was a mistake !!! So sometimes wrong then ? Reckon yer right about the ball over the Gordon road stand tho
I am a season ticket holder - but also pay to invite guests to watch the Gills and the 100 mile journey is for every home game ( and I watch practically all away games )
it#s entirely clear that we need a defensive coach at the moment. followed by an attacking coach. and another coach too... it's becoming increasingly clear that hessy as a 'coach' is poor. Although i still have faith in him as a manager. Tonight we were awful in every possible way, apart from the last 10 or so minutes. Re: brb - Tomlin's goal was immense Has anybody else decided it's time to give up on matty lawrence, who i thought was awful tonight? (yet again...)
