On Tuesday 18th September table topping Gills welcome our near neighbours from across the water, Southend, to the MEMS Priestfield Stadium. Both teams enjoyed comfortable victories on Saturday with the Gills destroying Bristol Rovers 4 nil and Southend trouncing Cheltenham 3 1 away from home. Following these results the Gills sit top of the table while Southend occupy 8th. Southend did the double over us last season with a 1 nil victory at Roots Hall and a 2 1 victory at Priestfield in front of the Sky TV cameras, Gavlin Tomlin scored a cracker for us but now plays for our opponents. This will be seen by many as our toughest game so far this season and an indicator as to our promotion credentials. Same rules to the brb Prediction League apply as normal, please post scores and scorers (in brackets) on a single line. UTG
Gillingham 2-1 Southend (Kedwell, Barrett- Assombalonga) We will continue this great run, Port Vale will be the real test.
I am so glad manager of the month was not a jinx and what a show of form to fob it off and hopefully another for september. Now to tuesdays match, this has never been and easy fixture, remember not so long ago the away fixture where we let our players make their own way LOL via bus, taxi, train horse etc.think we even borrowed there away kit ?? Glad to see water under the bridge and a more professional management and a team who want to go places. And setting the pace. This lends me to forecast a Gills win. Gillingham 2 v 0 Southend (Kedwell and Weston )
