Hello and welcome to the all new and improved Match day Hub which is now the official place for Gillingham fans, I decided to update this so that you will know where to go and chat before and during the game.

I always post this a few days before the match so you can start to create a debate before the game on what you think will happen in the upcoming game, you can post who you think should play in the game and why. In addition to that you may share with us what you think the team will be that plays as that may be different to the team which you think should play, if you think a certain player should not play you can share with us the reason why as it is good to know what the fans think about the team and why certain players should not be in the team if you want to tell us why.
So all you need to do is post your starting 11 plus the 7 which you think will be on the bench, you may be correct or not but it don't matter as no points are awarded it is just for fun.
If I am not at the game I will normally post updates about what is going on and the team which is playing, but when I go to games I write up a match report afterwards.
You can post freely during and after the game sharing your opinion with us on the result and what you thought of the players who played. If you go to the game it would be great if you could write up a match day report telling up what you think of the result and what you rate each player out of 10 giving a reason why.
This is open to both Gillingham fans and also the opposition, don't be afraid to post just because you are not a Gills fan if it is friendly banter that is allowed.
    Have fun and debate freely!

Just want to add aswell if you do any bets you can share with us what you think is the best bet, I do bets each week so I will share them with you if you want.

I will be at the game with my nephew, hopefully he will bring luck and a lot of goals for us like normal, the game is near sold out as I had to get tickets in the Rainham end as yesterday they did not have 2 seats together in the Medway Stand so this should be a great game, last I looked there was only around 40-50 seats in the Rainham end and there was not too many in the Gordon Road end, only around 400.

Oh this is the same template which I have been using since the start of the season I think I may have to change it.

    I wonder what side we see, I think it will be something like this;

    Nelson

    Fish
    Barrett
    Frampton
    Martin

    Lee
    Payne
    Vincelot
    Allen

    Kedwell
    Weston

    Subs
    Forecast
    Davies
    Dack
    Jackman
    Montrose
    Burton
    Birchall

I am probably wrong as that is not much change from the last team, I would bring in Essam for Frampton if it was upto me though.

Hoadie is Vincelot fit to play, I thought he was still under going tests?

Scary stuff, I think people forget to easily how serious his injury was or could have been, I doubt he would have been allowed to train in the early part of the week.

I think from what I have been reading that he should be able to play, but then that may mean that we could be on the bench, Also Whelpdale is a doubt but I think we may not risk him if he is not 100%.

At the bottom of this piece MA seems to indicate that Vincelot has been given the all clear but player safety is the number 1 priority. So who knows if he'll play. Bet he'll be their if he's not in he squad though.

Well.......its been pretty quiet on here this afternoon and I've been in a cast of ........one. A bit like the advert....."Where's everybody gone?"

Well at a tenner a head and a crowd of 8,500 or so I'm not surprised. May not make any more money, but 'bums on seats' will certainly boost the atmosphere and raise the decibel level.

Still out in the middle east and will be for Christmas too....so I await the feedback, the dissected (unbiased) analysis and from 'Always', the most truthful, factual, warts and all report on today's heroics.

I will write up later, bit of a shame that we drew but then again Fleetwood are a good side, we are still 5 points clear which is good but that was not a good performance by us for the 90 minutes.

Gills stole a point today having been outclassed by Fleetwood for long periods. Fleetwood ran the first half and controlled most departments. If we saw the best of Burton last week we saw the abject worst today. Second half was a different story and Gills had a good half hour and seemed likely to knick it driven along by the hard working Fish and Kedwell but they ran out of steam and were lucky with some offsides as Fleetwood got back on top for the last 15. Best news for Gills was Payne playing like he did in 2010, maybe he has woken up at last. The worry is that this follows a succession of home games where all the good fortune has gone to the Gills and that will not keep happening for ever.

Hello WINDYROG - the post frombristol407 is fairly accurate - despite the 'dominance' in the 2nd half - where, if only Kedwell could score from open play, we might have won the game, Fleetwood's football was a bit more flowing than our effort. I don't think that we were lucky with their offsides - it's all part of defending - unlike the definitely one occasion when a shove in their penalty area resulted in nothing from the referee.
On balance the result was fair. It does not need to be doom & gloom when we don't win these sort of games.( I actually thought this would be goalless .)
We have played a team that would like to be in the mix in April - and have not lost - either the game or any ground in the league. We need to beat the teams from 9th to 24th and not lose to the promotion contenders.

    Gillingham Vs Fleetwood Town
    Result 2-2
With a crowd of over 8,000 this was going to be a great start but it did not start how we were hoping it would as we fell behind at around the 20 minute mark from a goal which should have been defended better as Stuart Nelson knew as he smashed the ball over the Gordon Road End, it was Junior Brown who scored who has 9 goals this season now even though he is actually a defender, that is an amazing record as he got non last season and he was playing in Non-league with Fleetwood then.
At around the 25th minute our defence was breached again and that meant that Stuart Nelson had to come and collect the ball quickly while under pressure from Steven Gillespie, he managed to collect the ball but Gillespie decided to jump on Nelson’s back and try and get the ball which he only got a yellow card which some would argue should have been a red. However after the first goal it continued to get worse when we conceded yet another goal this time from a corner, it was Alan Goddell’s header who made it 0-2 at only 28 minutes into the game at this point I was thinking how could this get worse but was also thinking how could we come back from this however I still believed if we could at least get the third and also before half time I believed that we could still go onto win the match and then we did get the third goal after we woke up at around the 35 minute mark, we tried to get a goal a few times but were unsuccessful but at the 42nd minute we got a free kick and Charlie Lee was at the far post to get on the end of it now the score was 1-2 but then we had to try and get the second goal we were very close to getting another one from a Vincelot shot which was excellently blocked by Alan Goddell’s face keeping it at 1-2 for half time.
The second half started much better than what we had been like at the start of the first half, Myles Weston was brought on as a replacement for Deon Burton who was not having a good game. He really changed the game as his pace tore the Fleetwood defence apart at times and he kept on pushing at them and I just knew that he would eventually be rewarded for his hard work, we kept on having chances but we were wasting them all, Charlie Allen put in a ball from a corner which Vincelot could not put away then Kedwell had a shot from around the 25 yards out but it just went wide. However after that Myles Weston was rewarded when a corner was taken in the 65th minute Fleetwood could not clear and Vincelot headed the ball into Weston and he tucked it away from around 5 yards outside the goal, that made the score 2-2.
Fleetwood were now trying to hold onto a point so were wasting time but we kept on pushing and pushing at them, however we were wasting everything we had, but as we were attacking they got the ball in the 85th minute and gave it to Junior Brown who put it away however luckily he was offside to the disappointment of the 63 Fleetwood fans who had travelled down to Gillingham. We brought on Lewis Montrose and Ben Strevens but they could not do anything to change the score and it stayed at 2-2.

    So what did I think of the individual performances I will rate their performances below and tell you why I gave that rating;

Stuart Nelson 5- Kicking was not his best but he was not at fault for the goals, not his best game as he did not have much else to save as Fleetwood put away all their good chances early in the game, he did not make a mistake in the second halve where he took too long to take a free-kick and Fleetwood managed to get the ball but he was lucky that they did not capitalise and it went wide of the goal, it was not a great performance by him but I am sure he knows it was not good.

Matt Fish 7- He was good kept getting the ball forward to Myles Weston when he come on and worked hard but not all his passes were great but he was trying to play him through.

Adam Barrett 8- He was great in the air and he was the boss of the defence like normal, he worked much harder than Frampton and like normal he was coming forward to try and help us get a goal, he is so good at heading the ball.

Andy Frampton 4- First half we was very poor, second half he got a bit better but he was a liability and I hope he is dropped as his pace could have cost us the full game as he kept getting beaten and he was not physically strong enough half of the time but in the second half he done better where he was not under much pressure but that is no good as he needs to be able to deal with pressure.

Joe Martin 6- He was good, not his best game but he worked hard but he was not always strong enough at times and did not pass the ball great.

Romain Vincelot 5- He was not great some of his passing was a bit poor and he was not as creative as he should have been at times, he looked a bit lost at times when trying to find where to pass the ball.

Charlie Allen 7- He worked very hard and tried to change the game many times, his passing was good and his running is great.

Jack Payne 6- He was not great, he looked like he did not want to move from the centre circle, he needed to take more risks I would say he looked more like the player he was a two years ago instead of the one that was in the team 2 months ago he did not go forward enough.

Charlie Lee 7- He was good but I still don’t think he is back to his best, sadly he got a yellow card for a stupid challenge but I hope with a good run in the team he can get back to his best.

Deon Burton 5- Did not do much and was not working great with Danny Kedwell, we lacked the pace in the first half and that is why he was taken off.

Danny Kedwell 6- Similar to Burton, he did not have a great game in my opinion he worked well but not at his best, he does go back to much and that is a problem as that is what we have defenders for, he run out of steam by the end of the game and I would have taken him off, he should have scored with his header and also to up his game he needs to take more risks and shoot instead of passing, he did have a good go from 25 yards but he don’t do that often enough.
It hurts me to say this but if he keeps playing like this he won't score and his Gillingham career will be coming to a quick end as his touch is far too heavy most of the time and also he does not always make the greatest decision, he spends more time in midfield then upfront. I think he may be dropped to the bench after this performance.

    Subs
Lewis Montrose- He was not on long enough to give him a rating.

Ben Strevens- Same as Lewis did not have enough time to do anything.

Myles Weston 9- Possibly the best performance by a sub this season, he was sensational he just kept running and running trying to get us back in the game, this was possibly his best game for us and he deserves to be in the team after this, he deserved the goal and I would name him my man of the match.

Man of the match- Adam Barrett was named man of the match but I have to say I think it was Myles Weston as he done so much in the second half and changed the game for us.

The referee- He did not seem to want to give us anything, there was many free kicks which we should have had and a few times where we were pulled over in the box which were not given, also Steven Gillespie should have been sent off when he was on Stuart Nelson’s back.
