Hello and welcome to the all new and improved Match day Hub which is now the official place for Gillingham fans, I decided to update this so that you will know where to go and chat before and during the game. I always post this a few days before the match so you can start to create a debate before the game on what you think will happen in the upcoming game, you can post who you think should play in the game and why. In addition to that you may share with us what you think the team will be that plays as that may be different to the team which you think should play, if you think a certain player should not play you can share with us the reason why as it is good to know what the fans think about the team and why certain players should not be in the team if you want to tell us why. So all you need to do is post your starting 11 plus the 7 which you think will be on the bench, you may be correct or not but it don't matter as no points are awarded it is just for fun. If I am not at the game I will normally post updates about what is going on and the team which is playing, but when I go to games I write up a match report afterwards. You can post freely during and after the game sharing your opinion with us on the result and what you thought of the players who played. If you go to the game it would be great if you could write up a match day report telling up what you think of the result and what you rate each player out of 10 giving a reason why. This is open to both Gillingham fans and also the opposition, don't be afraid to post just because you are not a Gills fan if it is friendly banter that is allowed. Have fun and debate freely! Just want to add aswell if you do any bets you can share with us what you think is the best bet, I do bets each week so I will share them with you if you want.
If we do not sign anyone then I think Mad dog will go with this Nelson Fish Davies (I hope he sticks with him and don't play Flanagan as I really rate this lad) Barrett Martin Whelpdale Payne Allen Jackman Kedwell Weston Subs Forecast Flanagan Frampton Montrose Dack Burton Strevens I am assuming that Lee is going to be injured still but if he is OK then Montrose will not be on the bench and Jackman will be dropped to make way for him.
My money is on Payne being on the bench. Seems for some reason Allen does not like him starting two in a row.
Three wins out of three and I am still nervous about this game. I suppose it just means so much to us to get out of League Two and with previous disappointments we know to take nothing for granted. Forget Chesterfield's start to the season, they will be tough opposition today. I will be happy just to take a point, however, the most critical thing to maintain in our aim to get out of this league is consistency. Ensuring the point(s) gap is maintained between us and the chasing pack. So another vital three points is at stake, let there be no looking back this season with what ifs and let us get the job done properly for once.
Did anyone else see that in one of the breaks for an Injury, Martin Allen called over Tom Flanagan and was going absolutely mental at him and threatening to take him off. Now I can see why they call him MAD DOG!
I am happy with the result yeah it is 1-1 but that is good as we will not win all games this season but that may be one that last season we would have got no points and all them dropped points add up. Top of the league is great, if we do better each week than the teams around us we could stay there all season (But that won't happen) however I feel top 3 can be ours, but we need to make sure we stay in the top 4 or 5 all season and make sure we don't leave it till late to get that top 3 place.
I sincerely hope that Chesterfield will be up there come next May ! They had much more possession ( 59% ) and forced Nelson to make some super saves - my m.o.m ( although Barrett was also very good ) Flanagan was poor, and I was surprised he lasted all game. I would expect Davies to be on the pitch at Barnet. Montrose had a mare of a game ( well 30 minutes ) - sorry gfc1234 - if you were at the game you would have to agree. Why did we go long ball so much ? - I suppose it was because we were 4-3-3 and light in midfield - through which Chesterfield played largely unchallenged. If Chesterfield come good we might look back on this as a point gained rather than 2 'lost' - and we did go top ( why am I a little underwhelmed ?)
A good game, 1-1 a fair result. I thought Weston was a real danger in the first half but sadly not so effective in the second half. Montrose was awful today and Payne showed M Allen when fit he should always start. Nelson showed us why selling Gazza was a master stroke as he is top goalkeeper at this level. Barrett has also impressed and was i believe captain today. ratings today Nelson 9 Fish 7 Barrett 8 Flanigan 6 Martin 6 Weston 7 Montrose 5/ Payne 7 Lee 7 Whipdale 6 / Allen 6 Kedwell 7 / Birchall 6 Burton 6
