    Hello it is me HOADIE_BOI
What do you think the starting 11 will be and who do you think will be on the bench, will Jack Payne miss out on the starting 11 or will it be Paulo Gazzaniga in goal instead of Flitney,
    Have your say below.

I am going to go for this.
4-5-1 at the moment if there is no loan signing

    Flitney

    Fuller
    Lawrence
    Frampton
    Martin

    Whelpdale
    Lee
    Weston
    Spiller
    Montrose

    Kedwell

    Bench
    'Gazza'
    King
    J.Payne
    Rooney
    Oli

I doubt I have got it right, probably 2 or 3 wrong at the best, have to see, have a go.

It will be ( if I were picking the squad)

    Flitney

    Fuller. Frampton. Lawrence. Jackman

    Spiller. Montrose. Lee

    Whelpdale. Weston

    Kedwell

    Bench

    Gazza
    King
    J. Payne
    Rooney
    Oli

But I'm not picking the squad so it probably won't be.

Hoadie my choice is much the same as yours. Think I would like to see Gazza to start but think Hess will go with Flitney, I feel Gazza will be the better keeper out of the two but will take a few games to settle in.

Anyone who is putting Jack Payne on the bench has clearly not seen any pre season games, as in the 4 that I have seen, he has been the best player on the pitch, completely overshadowing the rest of the midfield, so he absolutely has to start on Saturday. In goal I would personally choose Gazza, as I do not trust Flitney at all whereas Gazza has nothing to prove and plays without fear, however I have no idea what Hess will go for. Also Joe Martin has been poor in every game i've seen so I would prefer Jackman, although again im unsure of what he'll do there, so a few options in my team. Im in no way convinced by Fish either and I don't exactly rate Barry, but from what i've seen he has done better in pre season. Weston and Montrose are both good, so up to Hess where he goes on that one. I would say one more thing, Spiller needs to start to keep the shape, he may not be as good as either Montrose or Weston but Hess can't shoe horn all his best layers in, the shape needs to be kept.

Anyway, my team is as follows:

    Gazza/Flitney

    Fulle
    Lawrence
    Frampton
    Jackman/Martin

    J Payne
    Lee
    Whelps
    Spiller
    Montrose/Weston

    Kedders

    Subs -

    Fish
    Flitney/Gazza
    Weston/Montrose
    Oli
    Rooney

A lot of people are going for Frampton and Lawrence and then turn around and complain about lack of pace! Why go for these two if you are concerned about pace? You surely have to go with King instead of Lawrence. Matt was great last year but it was because he would regularly play with Gowling or Sinc so Gowling or Sinc would be the pace and Lawrence would be the Solid one. This year however with Frampton as captian he will be a dead cert to play week in week out. Frampton is a very similar player to Lawrence so will take he role at the back. Therefore surely you have to play King to add some pace at the back as well as being a amazing defender.

Lukey once again having seen friendlies, I know like anyone else who has seen them, will have noticed that Lawrence and Frampton together were great, lack of pace or not we didn't concede with them on the pitch against Millwall or Peterborough, in fact they didn't even get a sniff.

If your an intelligant centre back, a lack of pace doesn't matter at all. You get your positions right and you will never be done for pace.

I'm not questioning that Lawrence and Frampton are a great defensive pair but I am questioning why people say that they want those two as centre back pairing and then turn around and complain about the lack of pace at the back! Also I do have to question why people seem to have forgotten about Simon King! Yes he has been out for about 2 years and I'm not saying that won't have taken an effect on him but in our promotion season he was the best player bar non. He has come through pre-season well and looked decent.

I dunno maybe it is because I'm just so desperate for the season to start I'm getting tetchy!

We just need a formation that'll provide the best chance of creating and scoring goals... thus if no surprise last minute signings are announced, then we should play:

    Flitney

    Lawrence
    Lee
    Frampton

    Fish
    PayneJ
    Montrose
    Martin

    Whelpdale
    Kedwell
    Rooney

This should be flexable so the wing backs (Fish and Martin) can go back into a back 5 if needed, whilst Whelps and Rooney can support Kedwell up front when attacking. I know not many would agree that Lee should be wasted at centre back, but he would add a bit of pace that some say we are missing, and he could also be employed as a holding midfielder if the formation is changed to 4-5-1.

Was King ever really that quick though? Quicker than Lawrence and Frampton yes, but not a hell of a lot quicker to warrant a starting place purely because of this reason.
