Difficult game to call for a prediction. They played our nearest league equivalent in the previous round Oldham, despite taking a 3-0 lead the result ended 3-2. Carlisle also recently got beat away at league two leaders Luton 3-0 - this weekend just past they drew at home to lowly Morecambe 1-1 and their opposition missed a penalty - but they did win away at currently 12th place Grimsby 0-1 on the 18th Nov. Head to head these two sides have not see a score draw since 1980 in about 29 games but have seen about five goal-less draws! This is a toughie for sure... I don't pretend to know their playing squad but a selective pick from a few names; Brown - 19, Dover born and on Millwall's youth team books, he made his professional debut in October 2016, in the 2–1 EFL Trophy victory over Gillingham. Hill - 39, scored a late equaliser in the Old Firm derby against Celtic on 12 March 2017, as the match finished 1–1. If it wasn't for those three goals conceded against Luton they would boast a decent defensive record, of the L2 clubs from 12th to 24th they are the only team on a positive goal difference. Gillingham 2 v 1 Carlisle (Parker, Eaves, Adams) They travelled down on Thursday to ensure the players were well rested and could have a full days training on the Friday, it would seem that the cup is very important to them.
