Hello and welcome to the all new and improved Match day Hub which is now the official place for Gillingham fans, I decided to update this so that you will know where to go and chat before and during the game. I always post this a few days before the match so you can start to create a debate before the game on what you think will happen in the upcoming game, you can post who you think should play in the game and why. In addition to that you may share with us what you think the team will be that plays as that may be different to the team which you think should play, if you think a certain player should not play you can share with us the reason why as it is good to know what the fans think about the team and why certain players should not be in the team if you want to tell us why. So all you need to do is post your starting 11 plus the 7 which you think will be on the bench, you may be correct or not but it don't matter as no points are awarded it is just for fun. If I am not at the game I will normally post updates about what is going on and the team which is playing, but when I go to games I write up a match report afterwards. You can post freely during and after the game sharing your opinion with us on the result and what you thought of the players who played. If you go to the game it would be great if you could write up a match day report telling up what you think of the result and what you rate each player out of 10 giving a reason why. This is open to both Gillingham fans and also the opposition, don't be afraid to post just because you are not a Gills fan if it is friendly banter that is allowed. Have fun and debate freely! Just want to add aswell if you do any bets you can share with us what you think is the best bet, I do bets each week so I will share them with you if you want. I will be at the game tomorrow, sorry for this being posted late, been very busy this week with the start of my Business college course.
I think the team today will be Nelson Evans Davies Barrett Martin Whelpdale (He is not on form, but maybe he will pick up soon otherwise he will be out the team) Lee Payne Allen Kedwell Weston Subs Forecast Flanagan Frampton Wright Jackman Dack Burton I would hope that Evans is at right back if Fish is injured but I can see Flanagan and Davies playing and it will one of them two there otherwise however I would rather Evans there as he is a proper right back. Updated- I have just seen that Fish may be OK so I think he will be at right back still and Evans will not be in the squad.
What a position we are in 6 games in 5 wins, one draw and a goal difference of +10 which is higher than anyone else, come on you gills. I will post a review later on.
Right today was absolutely brilliant I could not ask for much more other than maybe 5 goals because that would of made it a 5 star performance. Today was out best performance of the season I think and it was one of them days that we were top class, I have said so far this season that we may be top but we have still not shown our actual best but today was that day which we have shown what we are and how good we are. I think that every single player played their part today, I could not fault any of them. So what do I think of their performances, well this is what I think; Nelson 8- Did not have too much to deal with but as usual was there when he was needed, I feel assured with a goalkeeper like this playing for us. Fish 8- He was brilliant today, made one or two little mistakes but he was on form yet again and is one of the most improved players that I have seen for a while, I did not used to be a fan of him but I am growing to like him as he is a good right back, he works hard, passes the ball better and creates good attacking opportunities. Davies 8- He is such a good centre back, he is always there when needed, he is great and sliding for the ball and is also good in the air, what else do you want from your right back, he has grown to be one of my favourites and would be in my team every game. Barrett 7- He did his job, got the ball forward and made sure he was there when needed, he is not the fastest and is not the tallest but he is good in the air and is key to the team with the experience which he has. He is the sort of player that is brilliant for the team as he has been there and got promoted before so he knows what it is all about. Martin 7- He had another good game today (Sorry BRB If you are reading this) but it is true, I am starting to like him more, he is not perfect but who is, he creates good attacking chances and is good at getting back. Allen 7- He had another good game today, he worked hard and passes well, makes the odd mistake but he is a good player and deserves his place in the team. Lee 9- He was on top form today, that is the reason why we brought him to the club, without him we would not have been as good as we were today, he was so good at getting forward, creating chances and also scored with a HEADER, which is rare for him. He also set up Kedwell's second goal. Payne 8- He was brilliant today, I always felt when Bristol Rovers got the ball in midfield he would be there to get it and I was right, either him or Lee was always there to get the ball and that made me very happy, I am so happy that we did not sell him in the summer as he is such a good player and is so important. Wright 6- He was good today, not one of the best players but he was good, did not notice too much of him, it was more about Lee and Payne in midfield. Burton 6- He did control the ball well but was not the best, he seems to be getting better at linking up with Kedwell but was not at his best, some may think that I am harsh with the 6 out 10 but that is what I think he is worth, also he did come off at half time. Kedwell 8- Yeah you may be shocked that I only gave him 8 but that is because I think Lee was just that bit better. Kedwell was great today, good penalty and also a good headed goal which seems to be something which he is becoming specialist at, I am so happy that he is getting the goals now, correct me if I am wrong but I make that 6 in the league and 7 in all competitions which is half of what he got last season and we are early on, I think he should reach 20 this season which would be brilliant, he is now the player that we really wanted now that he has lost the weight. Subs Whelpdale 8- In his time on the pitch I was very happy, he is one of my favourites however I have not been happy with how he has performed this season and thought it was right to drop him, I believe he is a slow starter as he started slow last season and then picked up to be probably the best performer at the back end of last season, from the minute he come on you could tell he wanted to prove Martin Allen why he should be in the team and you knew he would get a goal and yes he did much thanks to Weston who was great aswell. Weston 8- He was brilliant from the minute he come on, he has so much pace and I don't know why he is just used as an impact sub as he should start, not only is he a good finisher but he is also great at running crossing and setting up goals, what else does he need to do to be in the team, he would be in the team ahead of Burton. Strevens 6- He did OK from when he come on but lacks pace, I think Kedwell should have stayed on as it would have been nice for him to get a hattrick. SO that is what I think, well today was brilliant. So who was my man of the match well that would have to go to Charlie Lee who was top class, he is so important for us and I am so happy that he is a Gills player, also good that he is more disciplined now. Kedwell, Payne and Fish also deserve a good mention who were good today just aswell as Nelson but I think overall everyone should be happy with their input. I know Fish was named Man of the match but I just think Lee done that bit more, so what do you think, well you can leave you opinions below.
