I wonder if I can get 2 team predictions correct in a row. I am not sure I will but I think that this team will be different as I think Martin Allen will want to give a few other players a go but I am not sure how many changes he will want to make. Nelson Butcher Legge Barrett Martin Gregory Whelpdale Linganzi Dack Akinfenwa German I am not sure if this will be the team as I am not sure if he will play Weston as well, if he does then Gregory will be on the bench and Linganzi will play the holding position with Dack in the attacking midfield position and Weston playing the left side of midfield.
I have a feeling that Callum Davies will play at the back for either Legge or Barrett, just so that they are rested for the Wolves match. I also wouldn't be suprised if we see the introduction of Harry Grant throughout the game with both his and Tom Derry's deals about to be signed this week.
Whoever we play this is a good chance to chalk up a win and give ourselves some belief going into the game away at Wolves I would expect a core of players (Nelson, Barrett, Kedwell, Whelps) to all play their part as they could then go into next Sat with a big grin. Still, I don't expect anything of the game, frankly as I say every year, the sooner we are dumped out of the cups the better, who wants to progess and end up playing sat tues sat tues at some point just for a silly cup we have no chance in hell of winning.
With our recent "cup runs" consisting of carrying a mug of tea up the stands to the boss, I can see no further than a home win for you guys. I predict a dire affair with the Gills winning 2-1. Good luck for this game and the rest of the season!
I think that the team will be a bit different now that we have made the signing. Nelson Harriman Legge Barrett Martin Gregory Whelpdale Linganzi Dack Akinfenwa German I am happy to see that Ashley Miller will be in the squad as well as Joshua Hare as Miller is a great talent and I think it is a shame that he is listed for transfer, I hope that we have a rethink and he stays as it was only a few years ago that there was big clubs keeping tabs on him. I just don't know what has happened to him.
Only blind faith stopped me from predicting a 1-0 home defeat on Saturday. I'd hate to have been top of the prediction league on the back of such a result. For tonight, I see at least a 2-0 defeat for us .......sorry. :-(
Nought wrong with that Windy, like I said already, best off out of the cups early. We do not in what will be a tough season want to end up playing Tuesday then Saturday then Tuesday then Saturday
Shame (for you) this one wasn't in the prediction league... Minutes played at home this season : 180 (plus a few, let's not get too pedantic) Goals scored at home this season : 0 Usual provisos from me - not at games to see etc., but I'm already getting a nasty feeling in the pit of my stomach. Still, looking forward to Wolves on Saturday.
Just got back from the game and quite down about the lack of common sense ! Getting someone in to fill a slot so no one plays out of position and paying for it then playing poor Davies out of position makes no sense It makes no sense to damage his young confidence It makes no sense to throw a game when any win will do because Saturday will be three on the bounce It makes no sense for us to turn up and pay for that rubbish And it makes no sense for me to have to smuggle my own cola bottle lid in the ground. But thats life Danny Kedwell made me laugh tho with his antics and Cody was full of effort Not good enough tho no where near and you cant blame the players for this one
Didn't we have 14 attempts at goal tonight? Making loads of chances, so the goals will come! Bayo had 5 free headers in the first half! Whelpdale, Gregory, Kedwell had efforts cleared off the line! I wasn't at the game, but followed it on the cover it live service!
I have some bad news for you I'm afraid Bayo was marked by Liam Fontaine who for about 2 and a half years has been the worst player at Ashton Gate except for a short spell where he actually played well, if Akenfenwa can't get a shot/header on target when having such a free run I think you could struggle. Having said that apparently Fontaine played as well as he has for some time last night so things could improve for you. Wolves on Saturday you could easily win that game as they are on a shocking run, an opening draw followed by a home defeat to the mighty Accrington Stanley does not look like they are going to be storming the table anytime soon. I had fancied Wolves as potential winners for the league but either the players or their manager or both need to buck their ideas up. I would say that Posh are playing the best so far this season only 2 games in though it be 2 good wins League and Cup. I hope we both beat Wolves in the next couple of weeks it might show their board how stupid they were to get rid of Mick McCarthy but somehow I doubt that. I read a couple of posts on your board about problems getting into matches believe me when I say your teething problems pale into significence when you read about the shambles my club has become regarding ticketing and getting access to games. Hpe your season gets better for you except for the obvious games, do you think someone should tell Martin Allen that clubs are giving up on route 1 stuff now even those past masters of it Stoke City.
actually it was Morecambe alwaysright even early in the morning ! Ps - do tell us about those access problems -at the moment our members ( mainly non season ticket holders ) can't get enough on the subject - just be careful to include it in the correct thread on our board
gfc1234 You are being misled. Sure Bayo had three headers, none easy but he might have been expected to get one on target. otherwise Bristol were totally in control and on two occasions in the first half they held the ball in the Gills half for 2-3 minutes with 20+ passes. Last season Gills were consistently poor at home but picked up the points. Let us hope that last season's away form has not deserted us because winning matches against the run of play is not going to happen this season. One good point from last night was the quality of Harriman but sadly his missed tackle led to the first goal. Nevertheless he looked fast and capable.
