This Saturday 24th September 2011, fourth placed Burton Albion are the league two visitors to Priestfield. The Brewers managed by former Canadian International Paul Peschisolido, have only lost one of their first nine league games this season. Their most recent victory being at home last Saturday, when they beat Swindon Town 2-0, this was Burton Albion second consecutive game without conceding a goal. The man to watch for in the Brewers side is number nine Justin Richards, who has so far netted seven times (eight goals, including the paint pot) for them in the league this season. For ninth placed Gillingham, it is a first home game for the loan striker and birthday boy Frank Nouble, who will be hoping to net for the Gills, following his debut goal away at Hereford last Saturday (17th September), to make it a perfect 20th birthday celebration. Nouble could not have had a better start to his one month loan, by taking part in that emphatic 6-1 demolition of a dire Hereford side, making him part of a Gills side that achieved a record league away win against the Bulls. The last time the Gills and Brewers met was at the Pirelli Stadium last season (19th March 2011), when the game ended 1-1, whilst earlier in that same season, the Gills beat Burton at Priestfield 1-0, with Cody McDonald being the goal scorer in both those games. This game based on the last season and Burtons current form, appears on paper to be a promising close encounter, however, I’m sure the Gills manager Andy Hessenthaler will be hoping his side continue from where they left off at Hereford. Danny Kedwell will certainly be hoping to get his first goal for the Gills from open play, although with Nouble now up front to accompany him, it really does not matter where the goals come from, as long as they are able to record another 3 points on the table. In defence Gary Richards will be hoping that he has done enough to retain his place in the starting line up, he will certainly be another player for debate. Richards regained his first team place against Accrington Stanley after an injury kept Andy Frampton (Captain) out of the side. Defender Matt Lawrence then picked up an injury in the next match against Southend United and Matt Fish suffered the same fate in a behind closed doors friendly against Ipswich Town. So whilst Frampton returned to the side, Richards retained his place due to the Lawrence and Fish injuries, whilst Simon King was on loan to Plymouth Argyle. Gary Richards got on the score sheet in the Hereford rout, whilst he was also named in the npower league two team of the week, for the 17th September. Hopefully the Gills return to winning ways will coincide with the perfect headache for Hessy, with more competition for places, as players eventually return from injury. http://www.gillinghamfan.com/4/post/2011/09/gillingham-v-burton-albion-pre-match-review-article.html
Nouble is awful, worse than Chris Dickson. Tough one to call. I think Burton will nick it, but the Gills could well pick up a point
Tbf Chirs Dickson had a really good spell with us so i wouldn't mind the same from Nouble. I reckon a score draw, 2-2 maybe?
