Peter Taylor has revealed that we are trying to extend the contract of central defender John Egan. John originally signed a 2 year contract when he joined us in the summer and for me is easily our player of the season so far as he has shown what a great defender he is plus recently that he can score goals. If we can sign him down to a 4 or 5 year contract then that would be great for the club as it would mean that we would be under no pressure to sell if an offer came in, in a years time and would give us a position from which we would try and negotiate a better deal if we were going to sell him. http://www.kentonline.co.uk/medway/sport/defender-offered-long-term-stay-29042/
I mentioned this on Twitter on Saturday Night.I think many Clubs have taken notice of how good John Egan is,and his regular goalscoring will have got him even more noticed.I think signing Egan up on a 4-5 year deal would give both Egan and the Club much needed security.Egan is currently playing regular Football,so he wont want to rush off elsewhere.A new deal would mean Egan can earn a bit more money, continue enjoying his Football, and then get his move a bit later with the Club receiving a big amount of money.
