By the look of it Gill will have a part to play next season, according to John Ward anyway.

I really didn't rate Gill...one-paced, not a great tackler and looked for the simple pass.
Also lacked inspiration as a captain.
Having said all that I've an illogical optimism which says that Ward will find a best way
to use Gill and Clarkson, particularly Clarkson.
It's just that we had two totally inept managers in Buckle and McGhee, and many of
our players underperformed under them for a number of reasons...poor tactics, strange
selections and formations, and playing when not completely fit.
With no evidence whatsoever, just blind faith, I think/hope that Clarkson and Gill might
be key players next season. :emoticon-0125-mmm: <whistle>

McGhee wasn't inept, he just made some mistakes. Anyway Gill's best game for us was his debut against AFC Wimbledon. Since then he's been useless.

Gill did not show any leadership on the pitch. He huffed and puffed and never made much of an impact. Maybe he really wasn't fit the whole time he's been with us. I honestly can't see how he would get into the side on merit without a massive improvement on what we've seen so far. He looked better than Stanley, but that's not much of a compliment is it?

Agree I am also not a fan of Gill assume he has a long contract or a clause to keep him at the mem for another season similar to Paterson the only trouble is that the money is tight enough already without having to spend it on players that have underperformed.

As for Clarkson he has struggled even at this level I even find it hard to believe that he was a championship player

Perhaps JW will play Clarkson in his right position its definantly not midfield. Gill also struggled hmm I hope he is not JWs answer to not having picked up O Toole.Maybe perhaps they will be loaned out to other clubs releasing funds to be allocated to better players.

I am sure that JW has his hands tied behind his back on these two players given there current contracts

I thought Clarkson was quite good when he put in a shift. We definitely did better when he was fit and in the team.

I think that Clarkson looked ok in an average underperforming team when Magoo was in charge.

Did you see Magoo on Sky the other night with Cole and York you can see why he was employed, with out appearing to be rude he talks a good game, perhaps he should become an MP as the Scots appear to excel in this area also its not a results game so you last longer.

I havent rated gill at all and I think his wages has been wasted. But I have been informed that the vast majority of his games he has played while carrying an injury or not being fully fit. I can understand why we havent seen the best of him. Lets see what this pre season brings him and what Ward can get out of him. Im happy to give him a clean slate. He has a year left on his contract so he has a year to prove himself and stay fit.

    Good luck Gill.

Gill has been invisible since he got here. He also aint captain material IMO as the bloke is too quiet. I reckon we need to get rid of him, along with the other waste of spaces...and you can add clarkson to that list, and go all out to get players like JJOT here
