Sunderland have announced that Darron Gibson has left the Championship club by mutual consent. The former Manchester United and Everton midfielder, 30, was suspended by his club on 18th March after being charged with drink-driving. He is due to appear in court on 17th April. The Republic of Ireland international has not played since 1st January because of injury, and his contract was due to expire at the end of the season. Gibson made 30 appearances in all competitions for Sunderland following his move from Everton in January, 2017. A one-line statement posted on Sunderland's website said: "Following the conclusion of his recent suspension, Darron Gibson will leave Sunderland AFC by mutual consent."
Mutual consent? Pay off in other words. Bout time there was massive changes in players contract which include around the board gross misconduct stipulations which result in instant dismissals.
Good riddance. Nearly a quarter million saved in wages. Could save about 30-40 club staff jobs in the summer
Winston Bogarde has always been my no1 football mercenary. But I think Jack has taken number one spot from him, what a little scum bag that boy has become. Hope he enjoys retirement, because he is going to meet a lot of football fans who hate him.............forever more.
I hope that you are right mate, but £20m in the bank should be ample compensation for any hurt feelings.
Been let off Two year community order and 40 month ban Pleaded he was going through issues at the time
