For all the latest reports and transfer rumours, visit our dedicated section here Sunderland have reportedly lost patience with Manchester United midfielder Darron Gibsonâs wage demands and have ended their interest in him, according to The Daily Mail. Gibson was apparently demanding £40,000-a-week to move to Sunderland as part of a £12 million triple swoop for Manchester United players, including John OâShea and Wes Brown who completed their transfers to Wearside last week. However, despite saying how keen he was to work with former United captain Bruce, Gibson and his agent refused to negotiate on the Ireland internationalâs wages, and the Black Cats' chairman Niall Quinn has reportedly lost patience and ended negotiations. Gibson was planning to leave Old Trafford for more first-team football, but he may find that there are more opportunities now in Manchester, as there are doubts about the health of fellow midfielder Darren Fletcher.
Well one things for sure..if we arnt prepared to pay what he wants, then he hasnt got a hope in hell of getting it from Stoke or anywhere else for that matter
We got the best 2 of the 3 and although I dont think Gibson is as bad as some are making out, I'm not gutted either if this turns out to be the truth. Save our powder for a last couple of deals that could just ignite the season good and proper for us.
Don't agree with, and if people look at the old threads when it was announced about the trio, it was him and o'shea most wanted.. In fact i think it was only blackcatsteve and a few others who were 100% behind brown and many not bothered either way. Gibson ain't that bad, but it's a fact we don't need him, and won't be held to ransom by his wages anyway. So he's missed his chance by being a greedy twat, so let him rot on the bench at man u or find another team.
I still think he might come when he weighs up all the other options. He is a good player and I for one would love to see him but I don't know where he would fit in with Catts/Gardiner ahead of him but you never know if it worked out he could prove alot of people wrong and push his way into the first team.
This news confirms what I read earlier on Sky Sports website. Darron Gibson has been given the number 28 shirt at Manchester United for the forthcoming season. It's over, we move on.....
Sod him I would have liked to have him but. not to be held to ransom by him. For too long SAFC have caved in to demands from players or their agents for more cash big well done to Brucey and the top lads for telling this player to go forth and multiply.
i'd have definately been pleased if he signed but now we have gardner and vaughan i'm not too bothered now, he probably would struggle to get into our side anyway, like dorset says let's move on and hopefully we can sign a left winger and a forward
yeah, i was virtually a loan voice on the brown signing, and i still believe he will be the best of the 3 for us next season, I can even see him getting the fans player of the year and the players player of the year for us. (just hope he doesnt get a cruciate ligament injury in his first game, that would just me my luck)
Let's use that that 30 grand a week for a player we don't really need now and put it towards that wages of a striker and left winger that we do need. I like the way Quinny has shown greed the door.
I was all for the three to arrive, I know alot voiced there disapproval of Brown coming. Disappointed Gibbo' chose the greedy option. I know he's not well accepted by Manure fans from what I have read and heard, but I think he could have been a decent signing. Midfield is more or less sorted now anyway. Time to move on.
This Irish papers are saying that the deal is very much still on with negotiations ongoing about his wages. He was reportedly on 40grand a week and wants the same from us. They are also saying that the Russian Striker Prog something or other from Stuttgard is the other coming our way.
