Fell at the first hurdle again, we haven't had much luck with the FA cup in recent seasons. It's sad really because I have had little interest in the cup recently due to our early exits.
The worst possible outcome would've been a replay. I know it can generate cash but I'm really not arsed about it at the moment; i am looking forward to us having quality players who can mount a proper challenge in a few years' time.
Glad to be out of it to be honest, we weren't humiliated, pretty much held our own against prem opposition, sounded like Hewitt had a good match... Hopefully no injuries... We were never gonna win it so best out of it injury/suspension free at the earliest opportunity, we've got far more important matches coming up! (Hope our lads had a good away day though! )
Decent performance, went out means we can concentrate on the league now and gettiing players in over this window. I was pleased to see MM change it around early on putting JET up top with Chopra and Murphy to the left and Martin on the right, although by the sound of it JET didn't do alot!! Good to hear Hewitt got a run out, I hope he keeps his place over Orr, same with Loach. Sounded like Chopra had a decent game aswell. Sounded like Hyam had a bit of an off game though!!
If I were Luke Hyam by now I'd have had enough of having the piss taken, is be demotivated and I'd be looking to move on.
As others have said, avoiding a replay, a good team performance plus the praise given to Hewitt and Loach is fine by me. Not mammothly bothered by the FA cup until MM & co have stabilised and then improved the team. A semi-respectable finish this season (given the ravages of the Keane/PJ era) plus noticeable improvement next season is all Iâm really bothered about. A respectable showing today is such an improvement on a PJ 6-0 thrashing against nobodies who can whinge?
Why do you say that after he played today? You seem to love the guy Lancs, you haven't got a bet on that one day he'll play for England have you and you're set to get a tidy profit from it?? I have to say I agree that in the 3 years he's been around he should have had more game time, although it's strange that 3 managers all seem not to want to play him!! I hope Hewitt, Loach and Chopra keep their places for the next game as they deserve to and they've been pushing for a place for a while!!
Just got back from Villa Park absolutely knackered but well pleased with our performance. The referee had a shocker from our point of view as he gave us nothing all game! Kisnorbo was immense in Central Defence and cleared everything alongside Tommy. Loach made one fantastic save first half but he fails to command his box and communicate with his defenders as we conceded some sloppy corners down to Loach. Reo Coker should just **** off now as he is too pedestrian and never makes a forward pass! Lukey was poor today eventhough he got stuck in he couldn't pass the football 5 yards! He gave the ball away time and time again. Chops was busy and buzzing around and should have scored 2 in the first half. Hewitt had a cracking game and his pace got us out of trouble a few times with last ditch interceptions. JET was well just JET! McLean had a cracking chance near the end and McGoldrick had no real impact on the game but he only had 20 minutes or so. Overall a very pleasing performance against albeit a poor Villa side which lacked confidence and any real penetration. If we had a little more self belief we would have won at a canter but the positives from today far outweigh any negatives. I love Villa park, its an easy ground to get to and the ground itself deserves far better than the team that plays there! Onwards and upwards and here's to 3 points on the road next week. In Mick we trust! We completely outsang the Villa supporters. "You'll always be SCUM! You'll always be SCUM! **** Off Paul Lambert! You'll always be SCUM!!!!"
Just watched the 47 second highlights. Judging from that, the final score updates and the score itself - no complaints at all. Questions i would be asking of the team if i was MM/TC (I imagine some might be answered by those at the game) 1. Why were we unable to score a second? In the first half I was under the impression we were the better team. 2. Why was the cross for Weimanns (excellent) header allowed in seemingly unchallenged? As i said generally no complaints, out of form or not Villa are a premier league side with premier league players so if we are able to match that performance today on a consistent basis in the league, we should have no problems.
