It looks like Watford will be appointing Gianfranco Zola as their new manager.......The manager I wanted for our club.. He will attract players with flaire and will change the style of football that they have been used to. I'm not knocking Del but I am knocking our board which IMO was a missed opportunity. Am I looking forward to the coming season?????? Not really, so far I see nothing to excite me. I can only see another struggle in the championship....I just hope I'm wrong.. For those who are about to accuse me of being negitive........please post something positive to change my views..
Gianfranco Zola would have also been my choice but it wasnt to be. Hopefully now DM is going through the club and changing everything from the ground up things might change for the better
I believe that DM will surprise us with a major change in emphasis for next season and although I don't think we will be ready for primetime, I do think that he will start the rebuilding process. If we are honest the seasons since gaining promotion have not been idyllic, despite our trip to Wembley at the first time of asking, and the downward spiral has been a long and very despondent road. The changes had to be made and the new order of the day is to support our new manager and the players he will bring to AG next season. Would GZ have brought anything different to our table but, as likeable as he is, we will never know the answer. You can only go with what we have and that is Derek Mcinnes and his crew! In Derek I trust, so why don't you all come and join us on the good ship Bristol City. All aboard.
Zola would have certainly raised our profile and could have possibly made us a little more likely to pick up some continental prospects but we really had no strong connection. Saying that, I'm never quite sure how Swindle landed DiCanio?? I'm pleased with what we've got. Derek is a breath of fresh air after the Copple / Millen debacles and I am confident that he will solidify us as a club into a comfortable mid table team. We all want to be pushing for promotion but we have to be realistsic with the state the club is in. The new financial fair play rules will make it more important than ever to rely on coaching and acadamies and not wealthy owners. In this regard I think Derek will shine but it's not an overnight project. Until such time that we get the new stadium and the increased revenue generating opportunities that it will bring, we're going to be at the low end of the financial resources table and have to set our expectations accordingly.
On and by the way, I feel sorry for Dyche who seemed to be doing a fine job at Watford. He's just not "trendy" enough for the new Italian owners which is a sad state of affairs. I'd be pleased to see him back at AG in some capacity although unlikley seeing as we just fired the tea lady to save some cash........
He likes to play football the right way and under the circumstances at West Ham.....did a great job. Happy with DM???? I question that......we will see, so far nothing has excited less about a season apart from when Millen was in charge........
how can anyone NOT be happy with what McInnes has done, he picked a team up from rock bottom of the championship, players being played out of position a want a way striker, and lets not lie a team low on confidence and clearly unhappy. He then guided them out of the bottom 3, and made us a force again, yes we dipped in form but thats due to the team that we have, there not consistant enough and quality enough to get us to even mid table, So McInnes did the best job he could of, so for that everyone must be pleased, and i for one am looking forward to what hopes to be a terrific season
because people don't realise what they have til its gone and just cause it wasn't their choice they is just gonna moan and not get behind the manager like they should
and, didn't we go on an 8 game unbeaten run to dig us out of the mire at the end of the season...? One4, how about letting the season get underway before prounoucing our demise, I think that you will be changing your tune...
Hope so Prem. I will give him a chance and I understand that we had to dig points out to stay in the championship last season....just. But I fear we will struggle again this season and as to the football he likes to play, I await to see......like I said, I'm not feeling excited. And again..like I said I hope I'm wrong.
jesus h christ you're still moaning about zola? give it a rest. most overrated manager ever, nearly got west ham relegated.. what else has he done in his managerial career? Oh thats it.
Maybe you don't like to play good football.....that's up to you..never got them relegated and under the circumstances at West Ham..did really well. How you can say he's most overrated manager ever just shows how narrow minded you really are. Let's be happy and play the Scottish way......renowned for the great football played there.............................................NOT
pointless thread in the beginning. I suppose sir Alex hasn't done too badly? I thought he was a jock and not Italian.
He was the start of their downfall. How can you say anything about scottish managers when the football leagues are full of them and one of them is probably the most successfull manager in history.
Yup......in the Premiership, I believe it's over 20 years ago since he had anything to do with Scottish football...........pointless thread, pointless comment.
Sir Alex is the only outsatnding one......and like I said, he's been in English football for 20 years or so. Taking Man U into Europe year in year out,,,,,learning along the way....... Scottish football...that was a long time ago.!
Still had to start somewhere though. And took him a while to get it across to his players how he wants them to play. When you think about it there has been more Scot's involved in Champion League football than English but you are still complaining. It don't matter what nationality they are it's what they believe in. We have only seen Del trying to make us safe with the same players who got us in the hole for the past 2-3 seasons. Zola either did not want to come to us or the board thought better of it. Your a Bristol City fan which is your choice so try and be supportive of the person in charge if by November and we are still dire you can then call us a bunch of pricks and say you told us so.
