Was at the game on Saturday.

Let me start off by saying that we played ok, and we deserved a draw at least.

A lot on here have high hopes for the little Italian this year. He came on with 20 minutes to spare.

And I'm afraid to say, I don't think much will change with him since last season. The guy is just too weak. I counted at least 3-4 times he got brushed off the ball, and he even got booked for diving on one of the occasions.

Ability wise, he is great. But that's no good if you are unable to hold off the opposition. As soon as a qpr player got near him, they dispossessed him with no bother, just a simple shoulder barge.

I really want him to prove me wrong, but IMO he is no where near strong enough for the demands of this league.

P.s thank you to MRra to alerting me to the tickets. And Syd from Sunderland mad for helping me get them.

He needs to find space, and to avoid becoming embroiled in the physical side of the game

    David Silva manages this.

    Protection from ref essential too

He'll get there. He spread passes everywhere achieving 100% passing accuracy. He's probably our best player. He's just come back early from injury too. Many a lightweight has adapted, I think he'll get there.

I think he'll again be a big player only this time with a bigger part to play.

the smallest and lightest player I can remember was that Brazilian who played for boro (cant remember his name) many moons ago and he was top drawer.
Don't see why giac cant do it at Sunderland

Yeah, I am not worried about his size and strength. Many "lightweights" can make it.

    Here's a stat I just read.

Wickham & Giaccherini have been on the pitch together for a total of 80 minutes. In that 80 minutes Wickham has scored 4 goals all of which have been assisted by Giaccherini.

Giacherrini will prove to be one of the best players we've had at the club for years.

Judging him on the strength of that team performance, against QPR, isn't enough.

Even though he only got 20 minutes he had one of best attempts on goal.

Finally someone else notices! I am adiment that these two need to play together. They link up so well, even in pre season.

He was on 20 mins, played 2 good balls in behind, was booked when Barton crawled along and took him out, and had a shot brilliantly saved by Green.

This despite missing 3 weeks of pre-season.

What the **** do you want from the lad? Hat-trick a game?

As Jammy says, him & Wickham could provide 25-ish goals .... we have some cracking players if Poyet can get them working together.

Aye and we can't do owt about that disgraceful yellow card.
That referee was **** all game and should be back down to the lower leagues, clearly out of his depth!

Just looked at his stats for that 20 minutes, 100% passing accuracy 17/17 (Buckley was on the pitch the same amount of time and made just 5 passes), had two shots on goal and created a chance. Not a bad 20 minutes by anyone's standard.

Yep, easily our best player, potential one of the most creative in the whole league.

Can't wait for him to be actually fit! 17 from 17 and a shot on target, half fit, from the bench.

    Quality.
