Gills fans have been right to be cautious so far because the fixture list had been extraordinarily helpful and we were outplayed by Bradford and Southend. After today we can start to get carried away. The team was really strong to start with, Allen has made it stronger. Luck is needed and we have found it in bucketfuls. Fitness and form can be elusive but it is all coming along well. Injuries have been minor and no longer do players have to wait in a queue at the treatment room behind Spiller, Richards, Oli, King, Weston and Fuller who, with the exception of the last two, have remained unfit at their new clubs.
There is good reason to expect to stay top.

Some may say that we have been lucky with the teams that we have played but we are very well known for not making things easy for ourself against the supposed easy sides. It don't matter if we our outplayed as long we get promoted it is fine.
We have beat 3 decent sides this season is Bradford, Southend and now Port Vale so I am very happy.
I don't care who we have played and won against we our unbeaten and it could be against all the top teams or all the bottom teams but it don't matter this is football anything can happen a team at the bottom can sometimes pose more a threat to a team up the top than another team at the top can.
We are top of the league, that sounds nice, like saying that.

you can only beat whats in front of you and so far we have done that through whatever means nessecary!! thats what matters

Unfortunately for Hess, Allen really is showing up his tactical naivety. Under Hess, whenever we won a game he'd stick with exactly the same XI for the next match in a knee-jerk reaction. Allen actually seems to know the strengths and weaknesses of his players, and has been very clever in shuffling his pack so far this season. Let's hope the same tactic still works when we're in less great form, and confidence is not so sky-high!
