Im find it ridiculous and boring that ive seen so many people on here saying we're going to finish 13th or 10th. I disagree ithink with the team we have gotnow we should be challenging play-offs not looking to get a mid-table finish. Pundits etc have backed us for play-offs thats gotta tell you something. Other managers think were a great team who could challenge play-offs so why is everyone saying 13th. I would be suprised if we finished below 10th. Personally i think we'll finish 5th.
People are being realistic. By stating mid table .... anything better is a bonus. Yes we may have a team that can push for promotion - but lets not get ahead of ourselves just yet. I would be happy with any top half finish tbh. Personally i think we will finish 8-10th as this is a looong hard season. We will see. Each to there own opinion tbh COYRs!!!!!!!
Most pundits are clueless, since City signed Sergio Aguero they've all said he will struggle to start off with and may not fully adapt for up to a year. Bingo, he scores 2 goals and sets up one in about 35 minutes yesterday. Pundits are just famous people who the public recognise and just sit there and give an opinion, it doesn't make them right.
It's simple really, set yourself a realistic, but low target, if you do better, then that is success. If things go well raise the bar. If things go very very well promotion is a possibility, no cause to run before you can walk, you just have got to believe and trust NA and NC.
I tend to be optimistic and I feel we have a much better squad and manager than when we finished in 6th place under George Burley. I therefore think a finish outside the top six will be disappointing. With one or two more additions a top two finish will be a possibility. Historically though it is a tight league and injuries to key players can blow things off-course. however, all things being equal we should be challenging.
We could lose the next 10 games, then we'd probably all take mid table. There's some decent teams in this division.
The thing that makes me nervous is that people set the bar so high that they are setting Adkins and the team up to fail. I want stability and I see all the signs that we are going somewhere, but what happens if we just miss out. A good league position this year but no promotion is not a failure. Saints will try and win every game and see where that takes them. Two years ago we were nearly out of business, now we have a thriving entertaining club that has won a cup and gained promotion. We want this to continue and progress to be made, but middle of the Championship is progress on middle of League 1. Anything higher is great and promotion would be fantastic. Our success could depend on stability which we've lacked for years.
The Championship is a really strong league this year. Its funny but when I started supporting Saints, half of this league were the in the top flight with us!
Hate to be negative, but think we may come back down to Earth tonight. What Norwich done last year has set peoples expectations too high imo. I would be delighted with a mid table position and if higher then fantastic! But to say "if we finish out of the top 6, I'll be disapointed" Is slightly unrealistic to be honest, as there's at least six sides in this league better than us. I just hope people stick by Adkins and the team when things go a bit wrong.
Is anyone out there in the know, whether our Under 18 team did in fact play Reading as scheduled last Saturday? Nothing has appeared anywhere that I can find, not even on the OS.
