We do seem to struggle a bit against defensive sides, we do look like we're missing just a tad of attacking quality.

I was thinking "if only Maddison was where Longstaff is right now".

A goal scoring winger/midfielder is what we need. Defensively we were pretty solid, but a good bit of constructive feedback for eddie is notice how our high press can make us vulnerable, leicester cut us open a couple of times and we were lucky they couldn't finish.

    Ratings -

Pope - 8 - Has come alive in the last few games when needed. Not many saves, but a lot of good composure and tackles/clearances made when needed.

Trippier - 7.5 - A few mistakes, but mostly good. Even though he spooned a few, he did make a lot of good crosses into the box.

Schar - 7 - Shakey early on, but mostly good.

Botman - 7 - Mostly solid, but his positioning is sometimes a bit off

Burn - 8 - Solid defensively, and fantastic goal. Totally unexpected, and here I was saying we need more of an attacking threat from our LB?

Longstaff - 5.5 - I don't think he was terrible tonight tbh, just **** finishing unfortunately. He did get a couple or shots on target.

Bruno - 8 - Not the best shots on goal, but superb midfield play.

Joelinton - 8 - MOTM - Great goal, brilliant midfield play.

Willock - 7.5 - I definitely believe it should be Willock LW and Joelinton LCM, not the other way around. Good play from him tonight.

Wilson - 7 - Great CF play, so many great touches and linking up with the midfielders.

    Almiron - 7.5 - Good shift.

Seems a tame headline for you Tash, you been on chill pills? I was expecting something more like: "Get the fook in we're in the semis, jizzzzzzzz - my thoughts on the game".

Not a great fan of Longstaff, take away his first miss tonight, and he put a decent shift in.
Great performance from the midfielders tonight.

Immense - didn't let missed chances in the first half get them down, and started where they left off in the second, and crushed Leicester. Joelinton, Bruno, Willock and Almirion all huge tonight.

Amazing day for Dan Burn, but the huge difference in the team from Saturday was Nick Pope back in there, he may not be noticed all the time, but he's superior in literally every way to Dubravka.

Terrible miss in the first minute, but shows the new confidence and attitude these days that he was still able to stick his foot in after that, do the running, and get in some far better shots. Same for rest of team.

Can’t argue with these scores to be honest. The world is turning and we are on the same page a lot.

I need to go and see a doctor. I can’t be seen to be all nice and gooey all the time.

He is the weak link in this team.

Replace him with a big upgrade (Maddison) and switch Joe and Joe and we have a first 11 that can really do things.

Longstaff then becomes ok backup for us.

I said the same, but I wonder if Joe/Joe works better than we think?

24 years since a final - I wish that’s what we did. What we did in the 90s was get to a final then wouldn’t bother turning up.

Two matches to go now. It’s progress even if we go out. Two players in before then, ASM and Isak fit again, who knows. Great stuff last night though.

I don’t know. Willock runs with ball well on the wing and gets us up the pitch in seconds. Joe L can do that also but he is better in midfield where he destroys players.
