The sport of football has been played in England for well over a hundred years without religion of any kind being part of the rules of engagement. Here we are facing daily news items regarding racial inequities and now we have fallen in to the cesspit of running scared of our own heritage and falling over at each and every mention of someone taking offence at anything English. I am disgusted at the failure of the footballing authorities to maintain sanity and common sense by banning all religious statements during the match but do agree players should not be forced by corporations to seemingly endorse products alien or forbidden by their individual religious beliefs. My wife and I were discussing the future of the world and were both agreed that the more England goes down the road of conceding to all and sundry, no matter what their views, the faster it will become a shadow of it's former self with all the nastiness thrown in for good measure. There is a well known saying of be careful what you wish for but I see it becoming more of be careful what you allow. Equality does not mean superiority.
Actually Inver, most professional clubs playing today started out as Church run clubs. The churches tried to introduce something to keep the young lads out of trouble and they decided to form (and fund) football clubs throughout the land. Ironically, we owe the Christian churches a debt of thanks for giving football as we know it to the world. I agree about keeping politics and religion out of sport, but apart from some Christian players crossing themselves before a game I wasn’t aware of any religious controversy - unless you mean the FANS - like Celtic and Rangers for example - or the Tottenham ‘Yids’?
New rules are about to to be brought in apparently to soothe the soreness caused by racial and religious differences and it will be interesting to see what ideas they come up with. I posted a few months ago when the game was stopped for one player to break his fast when I think it did not need to be so blatant for either him or others.
The game kneels for a convicted criminal but fans can be a banned for singing anti terrorist and anti nazi songs at Wembley.
We think it's bad here, and it is, but America is heading down a very dangerous road far quicker than us, and when all hell breaks loose over there, and it will, then maybe the rest of the civilised world will be 'woke' in the correct sense and start massively pushing back on these snowflakes/liberals/lefties. It doesn't get reported because either it's 'expected' or 'the norm' or because it would paint them in a bad light ! I mean, come on !!!!!!!!!!! When rioters and BLM/Antifa supporters burn cities and carry out looting they are not arrested or jailed The whole Police department in Portland Oregon have resigned after one of their colleagues was suspended for the way he arrested someone in the aftermath of the martyr Floyd. Over here, it's also very pointed that the ethnicity of the attackers who shot Sasha Johnson isn't widely reported, but if it had been a white person, there would be rioting and looting going on here too. We are living in dangerous times, and it won't take much more to push people to taking matters into their own hands as there is no equality and there is clearly no justice or common sense any longer.
I've always noticed, that we are just a few years behind American influence (apart from gun laws)......it's a worrying thought what we may have in store for us!!
It all needs to be nipped in the bud right here and now but will anyone other than Piers Morgan speak out ?
The edge of the cliff is coming up fast for our neighbours to the south of the 49th parallel because whether they are prepared to admit or not the word "United" couldn't be further than the truth. The insane doomsday preppers that exist down there are preparing to overcome some mythical entity that is coming to get them and they can't understand that they need to fear their own life philosophies before the bogey man arrives. Control of the planet could come in various forms and the longer we allow this semi-anarchy to continue the quicker we get gobbled up by our worst fears. To make matters even worse for my friends to the south they may be stupid enough with their collective heads so far up their own backsides to re-elect the unmentionable man who still believes that he is still the POTUS.
Mike From where I'm standing, and from the friends and contacts I have in various parts of America, since Biden became president it's got so much worse than it was under good old Donald thanks to the no blame, all inclusive, lets listen to the rabble, defund the Police, Liberals in the white house. The Democrats seem hell bent on undoing all the things that made Trump so popular such as controlling the southern border, which is already a humanitarian issue right on their doorstep. And where is Harris in all of this ? She was actually shamed into going to the area last week because Trump announced he would visit and offer support. This is the same person that is on video saying Joe Biden is a piece of trash just a couple of years ago before she got the job. They had a booming economy, low cost of living, low unemployment and goods and services were being provided and made in America rather than China, India etc. Now, petrol prices are approaching $5 a gallon in some states such as California, there is widespread unemployment, timber and building supplies (just like here) are rocketing in price and are very scarce. Seems that all the Democrats are interested in is lining their own pockets and just like here, are only listening to the 1% As someone recently said, Why is it ok for every other race to be proud of their heritage, except for white people ? And by jove they've hit the nail on the head. p.s Hope you're away from the major heat seriously affecting western parts of Canada and are staying safe and cool ?
Trump was nowhere near as bad as some people thought.plus the media were intent on exaggerating his faults ..but created jobs, was tough on crime and no conflicts under his tenure.....Yes bit of a loose canon but had America slowly getting back on it's feet..........We now await the unrest and shambles it will find itself in..

That's without the proven rabidly anti American recent immigrants from the likes of Iran, Syria, Lebanon who are now running in local elections in various parts of the country. Trump wanted legislation to (rightly) severely punish and criminalise anyone causing damage to statues or memorials, but of course the 'woke' Democrats have reversed the bill before it was passed, so it's basically a free for all. And anyone allowed to enter England from now on should be made to swear allegiance to the flag, speak passable English at least, and pass the suitability for settling test i.e. Employable ! They should also be forcibly vaccinated against Covid whether they agree with it or not.
