As much as I love Nigel Adkins at this club with recent results going the way they are and tactics seem to be going tits up something has got to give. As Nigel has not managed in the top flight before would it be a good idea to bring in an experienced manager in until the end of the season to work along side Nigel not to over rule him but to advise him or for Nigel to be able to call upon for advice with Nigel having the final say? Or would that be seen as an insult? I think it could be a good idea as long as it is done the right way with Nigel's blessing. What do you think?

Well this was briefly discussed before on the What Would You Do? thread, and I think the idea of bring someone in is a good one. But you can't try and bring in a proper proven manager and try and get some kind of job share going between him and Nigel, that would end in disaster. Bringing in a new, experienced assistant coach with his eyes on defensive organisation and the mental side of the game though I think would be a very good idea if we could pull it off. There would need to be a balance of getting Nigel help without entirely undermining him and making his work based on job title alone with most responsibilities given to someone else, but if we could find that balance and bring in the right man for the job, I think it could be hugely helpful.

Would be seen as a failure on Adkins part , it would undermine him , just imagine that in your job ? What would they do ?

I think we should bring in an experienced retired defender to coach.

Get Gary Neville in. As much as I didn't like him as a player his analysis of the game is sodding good.

    I can dream I guess. :(

As much as he's always looking to improve the team (and not as effectively as he might have liked) he's also striving to learn and improve himself. There is no steeper learning curve than this for him. I believe he is grounded enough to be well aware of his current shortcomings. Bringing in a Steve Bould like character in an assistant role would by no means undermine him.

Ken Monkou would be good but again it would undermine Adkins and make him look like he can not organize a defence , I will stop there before I say he cant organize a defence .............................

We have an ex-defender as assistant manager. Now granted I have no idea how much Crosby works with the defence in training, but if bringing in a coach - particularly a defensive one - would step on Crosby's toes to even the smallest extent, then I think it's a complete non-starter. We know how loyal Adkins is - and absolutely fair play to him, I think it's a great trait - so I just can't see it, should it step on Crosby's toes. And if Reed went above Adkins and brought someone in any way, I think Adkins would walk.
