His nailed his colours to a different mast lets kick him off ship before he tarnishes the rest. Get him out quick and for some decent money, he can join Lamberts new wave and he can tweet what he wants then. I think with Lambert he probably will find greener grass, not so sure about Holt, at 31 I doubt very much if he'll obtain the status he has here. I'd hazard a guess he'll drift into obscurity over the coming season. We can't be dictated policy by players. As for the new manager it seems Culverhouse is a sadly a no go. I really only like Mackay and maybe Poyet, out of the names mentioned. Hughtons never really inspired me, Clarke is just a nonsense whenever I've seen him speak. To be honest I hope its none of the names banded about at the moment I'd like someone to come to the fore that no one has heard of, preferably from abroad who has worked played in or has experience of England before. The trouble we have is that the players in terms of skill and patience are not great, its all a bit frantic at times. It's going to take a while to change that with a manager with a foreign mindset. If Mick McCarthy, Neil lennon, Neil Warnock, Lee Clarke, Alan Shearer or John Ward get the job then I will require a loaded revolver. I'd be kind of happy with Mackay, Poyet, Zola, Holloway, Nick Barmby maybe, I think a German manager would suit our pragmatic style quite well.
Agree it's kind of risky for GH.Norwich really was the club where he took off.Previous to us his figures were chequered. At Forest he didn't score freely and if he doesn't get off to a good start wheever he goes next then it could be uphill. I don't begrudge either of them wanting to improve their lot and 2011/12 was a fantastic season but I just have a feeling that it isn't clear cut who the loser is going to be here.
The club should as you say off load Holt asap & for his tweet strip him of the captaincy now ! I am really disapointed in Holt, never would i of thought the man was capable of such slime! After all he was milling around in League 2 not that long ago, if he was 2or3 years younger then i might have expected it but a seasoned pro of his ilk this is a poor show. I honestly beleive that he has swallowed a huge portion of ego that presumably his agent has spoon fed him, he wouldn't be nailed on to start every week at many clubs in the prem, especialy not Villa!
Can I offer a different point of view? Not saying it is right but I will throw it out there anyway! What we want right now might well be different to what we need! A lot of things have happened in the last week and maybe we could do with a old experienced head that can steady the ship for a season and keep us in the league for the next season. We are in considerable peril at the moment due to the "second season" syndrome and the people that are leaving. After ensuring our survival we could look into a more vibrant manager but maybe we need calm experience rather than youth and vigour at the moment? Things are up the air as it is, do you really want a big personality coming in and potentially rocking the boat and upsetting more players?
He could prove a toxic influence the captain and held in high regards by the younger players. His thrown two hissy fits now and it's so obvious that Behemoth wants him to follow him.
I want to see the back of both of them now. Thanks for what you've done for OUR club over the last three seasons, it won't be forgotten, and good luck in the future. I was disappointed (probably an understatement) but I'm coming to terms with it now, and you know what? It's not so bad! Here's to the next chapter - we'll all still be here regardless.
Agree carrabuh. Nothing is bigger than the club or fans. Thanks to both but get rid as you say for as much as possible. On to the next regime
My backing is with McNally, thankfully I think this is the consensus, he's the one viewing the bigger picture which is the most important. He is the one who has the clubs interests in his job description.
Its actually quite exciting surgeryman, lets just hope Mcnally gets in a gem and not a Lawrie Sanchez ahem./
I've not been on any other forums so can't speak for the content on there but I have to say how bloody refreshing it is to read all this solidarity and agreement we have mostly all found in the past couple of days. Apart from the odds exception everyone is being very calm, reasonable and pragmatic about the whole situation. I for one am very excited about what may be around the corner, entirely grateful for everything Lambert and Holt did for us but they are part of our past, sod em and let's look forward to the future!
Amen to that Munky - the solidarity and grit McInally and the Board has shown over the past couple of days tells me we are in good hands. On to the next chapter and an exciting future ...
Lucien Favre anyone? Monchengladbach manager. Lead them from predicted relegation to fourth place at the end of the season.
I agree Carrabuh. Let the good times keep rolling. McNally will get in a good manager who will have some money to spend. Whatever team Lambert had, this is their time to prove themselves. Holt also was not a regular starter. If he wants away, then thanks Grant , good luck, but we all move on. Of course we could have a poor season but so could 19 other clubs. We just have to keep optimistic. Add a bit of quality here and there and stimulate further the existing squad and things will be OK. Would not be that bothered if we lost a few others so long as the replacements are looking like a step up. For me, we were starting to lose our way a little with all his tinkering and could have struggled without eeking out a couple of performances i.e. Spurs. So for me the signs that possible change was coming when I look back, may have been stirring! So let's get it sorted in by the middle of June so the new manager can start targeting players for pre season. Could be good for all parties concerned.
As I've said on other threads, I feel that the almost incessant squad rotation didn't always work and I would prefer to see a more stable starting 11 (after allowing for injuries) with the next manager. PLEASE Mr McNally - Please not Bruce or Curbishley and let's keep the 'younger, up and coming manager' theme going!!!!
I think Holt should be allowed to go as soon as possible. I have some sympathy for him because he's only got a couple of years left as a player and he obviously spent most of his time in non-league and lower league football, so he didn't make a packet of money. Now if he wants to get as much cash as he can to set himself up for the future, I can understand it. I think he's making a mistake, mind. I fear this will be the end of him as a top footballer.
All this $hit in past few days makes you realise what a legend Drury is, been with us through thick and thin and his loyalty should ALWAYS be remembered. I agree, excited about next season. It's and end of an era and a start of a new one life goes on for Norwich City and we will be stronger than ever next year with McNally handling everything impeccably.
