JOE LEDLEY last night told Celtic he would love to extend his stay in Paradise. The Welsh midfield star has still got 16 months left on his current contract. But Ledley would only be too delighted to pen an extension as he nears three years at Parkhead. The 26-year-old’s advisor has been in negotiations with the club since the start of the year. Ledley — signed from Cardiff on a free in July, 2010 — said: “Talks are still ongoing. There are no developments at the moment and we’ll see what happens at the end of the season. “I don’t know what the gaffer is thinking, but hopefully I can stay here for a long time. “A couple of us, the likes of me and Gary Hooper, only have a year left on our deals. Hopefully we can sort something out, but there is plenty of time.” Ledley insists Celtic’s 19-point lead at the top of the SPL changes nothing in terms of their approach to matches. The champions, he says, remain as hungry as ever. Ledley, set to face rock-bottom and managerless Dundee today, said: “We’re concentrating on winning the league again. “We want to get as many points as we can between now and the end of the season. We then want to try and qualify for the Champions League. “That will be difficult, but you just never know. “We’re also in the Scottish Cup and we want to win that. We also want revenge over St Mirren. “Losing to them in the League Cup semi was the low point of the season. “We should have played better, but they are a good team and they play good football. “I’ve enjoyed the domestic game this season. We’ve had our ups and downs and played brilliantly in some games. The game last week against Dundee United sticks out, that was the best we’ve played for a long time.” Ledley, meanwhile, admits it would ‘hurt’ him to see Swansea win the Capital One Cup at Wembley today. The diehard Cardiff fan takes comfort in the fact Malky Mackay’s team are heading towards the Championship title — and the Premier League. But on the Swans showpiece against Bradford today, he said: “I’ll be supporting Bradford. “I have friends at Swansea — Ki, Ashley Williams and Ben Davies. It would be nice to see them winning a trophy — but as a Cardiff man it will hurt me.”
My number wan favourite player at the minute. I love him. Lady who ah werk wi keeps me up to date on what his woman is up to on the twitter machine. I figure if she is happy in Glesga, so is Joe.
If I was a cynic, I might say that if one can believe anything written in the newspapers then this is good news but perhaps this is just the precursor to the next story about difficulties in agreeing a contract or his turning it down.
