Not sure on the clauses on Danns loan but can we afford to be without one of our in my opinion best midfielders? We've cried out some games this season for someone who'll get stuck in and not shy away from tackles against the more physical sides, I know he had a shocker in the Burton cup game but so do at least 8 others.
Wouldn't say no. But it looks like he's leaving and I wouldn't have objection to that either, as long as he's replaced. We've got 3 midfielders capable of starting who have an average age of about 22. We need that experience/grit. We havn't had it for far too long.
Couldn't agree more. What ever has happened needs to be ironed out. King is off form and Danns is a great box to box midfielder. Bring him back Nigel before it's too late!
danns turned out for bristol today.. they lost 0-2 ..didn't make the difference for them..with evey loss and he just gets better and better....
If King is going to be dropped it will be more then likely Matty James coming in. Its pointless calling for a player who currently isnt here. Its a bit like calling for Beckford to start against Cardiff
Although I do agree that we could have done with a Wellens or Danns in midfield today, I wouldn't say it was the case in every game. I think IUTBJF put it best when he said Pearson is being inflexible. Today was a different challenge to usual against a team that's was all brawn and no finesse. Knockhaert shouldn't have played and we should have started with Futacs for direct balls. We needed more bite, so may be James or even Wellens should have come in for Drinkwater or King. I realise Pearson doesn't want to be forced to play a different team and tactics based on the opposition, but sometimes there's no other way. Besides, they hardly looked great against Barnsley, so can't see why changes shouldn't have been made anyway.
The word is subborn..it can be a good quality but sometimes its a two edge sword... but nigel will do it his way... for better or for worse..I think its a major flaw in his ability...but what do I know....,
I thought at the start of the season that Wes Morgan and neil Danns would be the 'leaders' on the field that would be the anchors to a potential promotion campaign ... every team needs someone who is not intimidated by strong arm tactics and willing to mix it in the midfield ... Danns is that ... but I don't believe he has a future with us - possibly due to having been too close to the 'egos' that have already been moved on .. shame because on his day he is a quality player as the Brizzle's have already noticed ..
If we'd of had a fit, focused, hard working trio of Mills, Danns and Beckford as the core of our team from the 1st game of the season we'd be top now. There I've said it. Be gentle.
Mills is knowhere near the player Wes Morgan is .... Danns yes ... Beckford's first touch is not Premieship class ... that doesn't necessarily contradict your points ...
Take off your rose tinted specs - Danns isn't here for a reason and that reason is that he isn't good enough. Would prefer Yuki Abe back over Danns.
I think that Mills alongside Wes would have worked, Mills needs someone he can rely on playing next to him. Beckford needs to feel like he's the number 9 and needs someone to do his running for him, I'd settle for him not running much but bagging 25 goals
Its a shame Mills didnt carry on his Reading form because that year him along with Ashley Williams was the best defenders in the League, I remember Paulo Sousa made a bid for Ashley Williams but it got turned down Danns has only ever done well at smaller clubs and his discipline is a major problem. He collects miles too many yellow and red cards over the course of the season Beckford's attitude and work ethic was never going to impress Nigel was it. Sven would have stood for it like he did with Jeff Bruma and Yakubu the season before
I watched Williams play yesterday and I thought he was immense. One of the best players to come out of the Championship in a very long time.
I agree with all your points. I specifically said that if they were fit, focused and hard working it would of worked. If NP had of invested time in them and got them on his wavelength they would have all been assets this season. I dont think anyone could get Beckford to put in the sort of shift Vardy does but some time and faith spent on him might of seen him develop into a good team player nevertheless.
Nigel did give Beckford every chance Member who started the Peterborough and Charlton game upfront with Jamie Vardy Nigel spent 3/4 of last season plus pre season and 2 months trying to sort Beckford out
I take it you don't go to many games then and form your opinion from listening to messrs young and stringer? I've missed 2 games this season (not claiming to be the best fan either by the way) and have said on numerous occasions that our midfield isn't strong enough and yet we've sent one of our better midfielders out on loan, last 15 or so games last season Danns was in my opinion our best midfielder, yes he was awful against Burton but so were at least 7 other players.
I don't think Nige came in thinking that any players days were numbered. I think he gave Beckford, Mills and Danns every chance. Nige plays his cards close to his chest so we can only guess what happened with three players that should be among the best in this division on paper. I'ts likely that wages and attitudes had an impact on Nige's decisions though.
