Really sick for the lad, just as his career at Utd and England was starting to take off. I hope for a full recovery.
I'm sure all football fans will share this sentiment. Seeing players get a bad injury is never a happy sight
Looked a horrible one alright....Hope he makes a full recovery as he has so much to offer to the league...sign of the times he was on twitter so soon after...at least he(or whoever looks after his social media) gave a very nice reply back to saints message of support
Nasty, poor guy. The scissoring action of Moreno's knee; and it, in time finding Shaw's weight bearing right leg, is grim. If Moreno's trajectory wasn't 'curtailed' so abruptly by Luke's eventual planted leg; Moreno would have carried on past under/though Luke, making it more the obvious red and penalty it was. Anyway, all that matters now is a speedy recovery.
Especially sad as Van Gaal said because he'd had one difficult season and then came back much better this season. Luke had worked harder...even taking a trainer at his own expense on holiday as he was so concerned about his own fitness. All that work and now he will have to start all over again...but with more difficulty as he recovers from injury. He'd do well to take advice from JRod as he worked tremendously hard not to lose fitness whilst laid up. Allow yourself a couple of burgers, lad, then the hard stuff begins again. Good luck to him.
I tell you what, some of these ex players of ours will do anything to get out of playing Saints. Horrible injury, one of the worst I've seen. Best of luck with the recovery.
Van Gaal was visibly upset after seeing Luke in the dressing room. He said Luke was crying and LVG had tears in his eyes as he said it. He knows more than any of us how Luke has listened to him and worked on his fitness.
You never know after something like this. It could effectively end his career. To come back stronger means that he will have to be lucky with the physical side and incredibly tough on the mental side. That first tackle will be playing on his mind for as long as he takes to get playing again. I wish him well. Nothing seems to be working out for any of our leavers.
Not that this matters in the circumstances, but Bertrand is going to have no competition at all for the England left back slot when he comes back. Baines and now Shaw are out long term and Gibbs hasn't played for Arsenal either.
The good thing is that is a break to his tibia and fibula...not to his knee or ankle which are far harder to heal. He has to wait for the bones to mend (and remember he will have the best of treatment) and then get his muscles fit again. Less problematic than joint, cartilage or ligament injuries.
Was a horrible challenge and feel so sorry for Luke after being in great form so far this season, shame for England as well, all the best Luke.
Really sad for the guy, just as he was really starting to kick on from when he left us. Watching him run with the ball is mesmerizing, there are only two players in the world that I can compare him to in that regard - Bale & Ronaldo. I'm Shaw he will come back fitter, stronger & more hungry than before.
