Been away this weekend and can't believe the negativity around after Saturday. Who would have thought 18 months ago we'd be sitting on top of the table going into Christmas! Even if we have a bad run now we are almost certain to be in a play off position going into the new year. I for one would have grabbed that at the start of the season.

The boys and Nigel are doing brilliantly and we should all get on the bus and ride into the Premiership!!

I agree - we won`t be the only team to come a cropper at Bristol before the end of the season. We`ve bounced back from our previous defeats, so lets do it again tomorrow.

Think most fans are being sensible about this, but you scratch a New Saints fan and underneath is an Old Saints fan. We have had a better start than any of us could have hoped..points on the board are everything. I'm very sure we won't have a prolonged bad period this season..just the odd blip.

We have been doing so well that a disappointment like Saturday's result as unexpected as it was does leave you nevous and worrying about our away form.

Being a Saints fan has always been a frustrating experience in that one minute you are beating all the top sides and then you come up against a team that has been struggling and it's as if we feel it is our responsibility to give them and their fans a lift and let them beat us while we roll over and go to pieces.

I am sure that Nigel will get to the root of the problem and sort it out but our away form remains a weakness and I am just hoping that our players aren't going to roll over and die for our hypersensitive neighbours.

Just to add a little perspective and I hope you do not mind me adding this, this is the best start to a season for the Saints for many a long year and it could not realistically go on until the end of the season.

Despite their lowly position in the League, Bristol City are one of the forms teams since the change of manager and it was no disgrace to come a cropper at Ashton Gate on Saturday. I am sure there will be other results that will go against the Saints between now and May but as long as the team can respond to them positively there is nothing to worry about - the Saints will be back in the PL next season <ok>

Thanks for that TC, I think a lot of us were very disappointed just because we'd lost and not played well, but you're absolutely correct, it's a long way to go and there will be other losses to come. Even Norwich lost 8 games last season! Good win on Saturday though, always good to get one over on your previous season's promotion rivals (like us against Brighton last week!).

    95% of fans haven't moaned!

We've acknowledged endlessly that we were poor in Saturday but I think it is when the Bristol City WUMS came on here a few people flipped!

and don't forget, although WHU & cardiff got wins on Sat, virtually all the other results went our way. No great damage done. Let's make sure we get behind the lads tomorrow, regardless of the score. COYR

Mind you, a win would be nice! Don't forget, the ONLY time we have lost 2 in a row since Nigel has been in charge was Tranmere followed by Man U. We have never lost 2 league games in a row under Nigel, and almost always a loss is followed by an emphatic win.

If we win tomorrow, and Middlesbrough beat West Ham, we will be 5 points clear again. If Boro/WHU draw, a win for us puts us 8 points clear of 3rd place and 15 points clear of 7th place.

I'm thinking of changing my name to Optimistic Saint, but I think someone else has already got there first!

When you are on a roll and winning very comfortably most of the time of course it comes as a bit of a shock to lose to a team in the bottom 3, it's only natural - the problem is you have been spoilt for so many months now you have forgotten the pain of 2 years ago but then that is no bad thing either.

You guys probably only need to win another 15 games to clinch an automatic promotion place with 28 games to do it in <ok>

Spooky - Identical to Norwich under the helm of Paul Lambert on our rise back to the PL - never lost 2 consecutive league games in L1 or the Championship <ok>

True, but our record against high-flying sides is probably better than against those in the lower half of the table. And we're at home. I know our sequence of home wins has to ens sometime but I think it will carry on a bit longer yet. <ok>

I have to admit I did react rather badly to the Bristol City WUMS but I have calmed down and realised that we lost to a good side in good form who will soon rise up the table

Win tomorrow and all we be forgotten. And I'm confident that we will do just that.

(But don't win tomorrow, and suddenly a little bit of pressure will start building up going into the Doncaster game).

What will be slightly irritating for me is, if Bristol go and lose their next game. They have proved they are a useful team under the new gaffer, but how many times have we seen a team raise their game against us, the look pretty mediocre in the next one. Watch this space.

We could and even though we probably didn't desserve it, got somehting at Bristol looking back at the highlights. They for all their possession and getting down our flanks didn't really create many more chances than us. The chances we created, on another day would have gone in, the lallana save, the shot wouldn't have hit guly, de ridder would have kept the ball down, Guly would have got the ball out from under his feet. For all their pressure, we created chances still, which i will take as a positive. Hopefully grab 3 points tomorrow night.

This is so true! It's so annoying!

I think we will all have to wait and see how the lads do tomorrow night...All this talk on here is just old frayed nerves making a reappearance. We will all just have to wait until tomorrow night, and put our trust in Adkins to get the job done.

I think we can make too much of the defeat in our own way by producing more than one thread about it. Can we just leave it and look forward to Tuesday [tomorrow] now..?

In fact, I've made more than it merits by actually bothering to come on here and type this. Hopefully, I'll be the last contributor.

Anyone with any sense will acknowledge that you are not going to win every signle game to the end of the season - where would the excitement be without the uncertainty?
Thats what makes football the game it is & why all us fans keep going!
All fans expectations are high and very often unrealistic - that,s the way we are!
If Totton get through to the 3rd round & draw Man U, their supporters will still they have a chance & good luck to them for that!
Whoever we follow, you just have to lick your wounds & move on - it has to be that way if you are going to retain your sanity!
