I was there tonight. He didnt seem to bring a lot to the team. I agree he isnt in the same class as some, maybe most of our players. To me he seems to lack a footballers brain more than anything. He's big and strong but then the list goes down hill. Doesnt seem to defend from the front or work hard enough. Could go on.

Gestede isnt worth tuppence with his injury record, so we either perservere with the lad or let him run his contract down. However in his favour, he hasnt had that much game time either.

He looked useful at times last season (did well against Liverpoll) but had too many injuries. It appears he is now over those and getting match fitness. His appearances so far this season have been as sub when we were chasing games, the opposition was sitting back and we resorted to simply pumping the ball up in the air in or around the box or to the other side of the box completely as happened to many crosses from the left in the second half last night.

He didn't need to defend from the front as brought on when Watford were down to 9 men (I think, certainly down to 10).

I wouldn't dump him yet unless as a makeweight for a better option in January. Failing that he deserves a chance to lead the line from the start of a game, e.g. if Helguson was unable to play.

You've got to give the bloke a chance this season. The service to him last night when he came on was appalling - so many crosses that were nowhere near anybody - many from Taylor, Noone and even from Whitts. At Forest on Saturday he definitely made a diffference generally - also, had a great header tipped over, and made the goal with a tidy punt over his head in to the box. He has had so little game time you can't judge him yet this season. I'd love to see him start for once instead of Helgusson, or even come on a lot earlier from the bench so we can all get more of an idea if he is going to make it. He is certainly a better footballer than Leo Fortune West!!!!!

Yes the one thing that was terribly apparant last night was the quality of the crossing the 500mph cross from Taylor brought out a fair few moans in the crowd. I wonder what they will be practicing in training over the next few days ? !!

You're right Iggy, Rudy does need a chance. I mentioned after the Palace game that if Malky thought Rudy was fit enough for the bench, even starting Gestede and Helguson together should be considered.

We saw it again last night. Helga huffing and puffing up front taking the brunt of the big Watford defenders with little reward. They sat back and soaked him up. Rudy up there from the start would take the pressure off him and he could be far more productive on the goal front - let's face it, that's what he's there for.

The major downside with starting with the two of them would be who would be left out of midfield to make way for a proper " two upfront" formation.

With Smithy and probably Bellars sidelined for a while, I'd go for a mid 4 of Whitts, Gunnar, Mutch and Noone. That leaves Mason, Kimbo, Cowie and Conway on the bench to change things if necessary
