I can see it happening even though he is not what we need.

Surely not a very average player! We need top class to compete next season

He has a lot of pace, but not a lot more.

People moan about Walcott and his "football brain" or lack of. Gervinho is worse, and does not have Theos composure in front of goal.

If we do sign him I will support Gervinho, but I do not think he is the sorrt of player who will take us up a level or two.

came over here to see what you were saying about gervinho. but i think he is better than walcott especially in front of goal. also i think for us to get him is a long shot but i don't see why arsenal need him.

25 goals in 54 apps from out wide would imply otherwise. Also 5 goals in 19 for Ivory Coast ain't too shoddy.

    Gervinho
    Apps: 193 Goals: 52. Assists : 22 (Career Total).

Consider he's a year OLDER than two other Strikers we've been linked to and some of his goals came in the Belgian league.

    Gonzalo Higuain:
    Apps: 207 Goals: 93 Assists: 42

    Karim Benzema:
    Apps: 231 Goals: 101 Assists 41

Gervinho is not the calibre of player we should be after. We need players better than the ones we already have.

Not saying that he is good enough for us (haven't seen enough of him to say), just pointing out that his goals ratio is not that bad. Certainly "who cant score goals" is a tad harsh on him.

Also he is a wide player, which Benzema isn't.

I hope Wenger believes that so he can bugger off and Newcastle can sign him.

Is that the same Lille that are the French champions and cup winners?

Doesn't mean he is a bad player though, even if Lille came from nowhere they could still be a good team.

Agreed, Lille must be doing something right to knock lyon off their perch.

Are Lille in heavy debt because they've done well lately yet now they decide to sell off their star players?

Cabaye has joined Newcastle, Gervinho is linked to 3-4 clubs and Hazard may well be on his way too. Just wondering if they're dealing with some financial crisis at the club. £10 million strikes me as cheap for a player of his calibre too.

Didn't know Hazard only had a year left to run, Zidane has always harpered on at Real Madrid to sign him but it looks like he'll go elsewhere, the lad has frightening levels of pace and judging by last seasons stats has improved his contribution considerably.

The transfer market is crazy right now, Henderson moving for 20 million yet Gervinho would sell for slightly over 10? Hazard wouldn't go for ridiculous amounts given his contract length either. I think teams are mad not to take a punt on some of these players for such prices.
