With the Cote d'Ivoire eliminated from the ACON, Gervinho will be heading back to Arsenal very shortly. He has enjoyed an impressive tournament, with Wenger describing him recently as the "best striker" at the ACON, but will no doubt be disappointed that the star-studded Cote d'Ivoire once again fell short of glory. He could still have an important role to play for the rest of the season, but for me, the starting front 3 will generally be Pod, Giroud, Theo. I like the option that he brings, but he really needs to step up his game from his pre-competition form. What do you think guys? Does Gervinho still have a future at Arsenal? Do you welcome him back?
We need more forward options on the bench, so I am glad we have him back. Like with Ramsey, let's hope he slowly finds his form and confidence with effective performances from the bench, because like you said, our front three does not include Gervinho.
He still has a future, one thing wenger is well known for is giving people ample chances, but its up to gerv to come out and prove that he is good enough, and prove that he deserves to be an arsenal player, the ball is firmly in his court.
Lol, put gervinho into google and the first suggestion coming up is "gervinho forehead" please log in to view this image
With a forehead like that he should be a beast in the air but his heading is woeful lol He still has time to make it at Arsenal and has shown signs that he can be a very good player. He will be used mainly as a sub when he returns so hopefully like Ramsey he can put in some good shifts and work hard to earn his place. He'll struggle to push Walcott, Podolski or Giroud out of the starting line on current form, so it should encourage him to up his game.
Allround he is ineffective, so he will be right at home back in the Arsenal squad along with other players of simialr potency. Impact sub? That is an admission that he is not a first team starter, and just when has he had a positive impact as a sub? To be fair, with very, very few exceptions, most our players are rubbish impact subs. By that I mean that when we are struggling or losing, and Wenger decides to make his clockwork 70th minute change, seldom is there ever a candidate on the bench that gives us teh feeling he will win us the game. In fact most of our substitutions are greeted with relief at one ineffective poorly performing palyer finally being taken off ..... and then an even biggfer sigh when we see the meagre resources we have to replace him. Gervinho and Ramsey have become totemic of the overall poor quality in our squad, and the lack of real competition for places that has fostered. What we larnt from SAF over the years is that the only posintion you can afford to give a guy chances to prove hisself is CF, e.g. Andy Cole, Forlan. For everyone else he is ruthless.
Even the most blinkered negative posters on this forum have had to eat there words and admit that Ramseys recent from has been very good and he has been good comming off the bench. So on that basis i can't agree with your post TenG!
