Toon fan in peace.

Good to see the Toon back in Glasgow tomorrow against the top team in Scotland.

Maybe just a friendly, but Pardew will be taking it seriously and putting out a strong squad.
Sounds as though there'll be a decent support from us.

Hope the crap gets sorted with what's going on with you.

Was supposed to be going over for this game but would have meant taking 2 days off work and after taking a few days off last week I would be rippin the pish if I asked.

Should be a decent enough turnout and good atmosphere but a comfortable win for Newcastle.

CHARLES GREEN has spent the summer painting a roof and now Rangers fans have demanded there must be no more whitewash jobs.

The former chief executive wandered back into Ibrox last night, 87 days after he quit the club amid accusations of previously undisclosed links to Craig Whyte and casual racism.

Green recently revealed he has spent his enforced sabbatical at his home in France, taking a brush to the tiles that had become discoloured by the sun.

Rangers supporters let him know last night if he thinks they can be fooled again by his Yorkshire sales patter then he also has a slate loose.

The Light Blues were on course for a pre-season friendly win over Newcastle courtesy of a fifth-minute Lee McCulloch penalty after Nicky Clark had been downed in the box.

A lapse in concentration in the last minute allowed United sub Shola Ameobi to run on and clip an equaliser over keeper Cammy Bell but the home side had played well and the fans will be hoping for more displays like this in the coming season.
As many eyes were turned to the directors’ box as the pitch and the fans let Green know in a series of second-half outbursts he no longer has their trust.

The Rangers consultant arrived at Argyle House in the Govan Stand shortly before 6pm and although there was hardly a baying mob in attendance one fan made his feelings clear.

He stepped forward and told Green he was a “disgrace” before adding: “Get out of my club,” but the punter may as well have been speaking to one of Green’s big Yorkshire hands as his advice was ignored as the former chief executive made for his office.

In truth, confusion rather than consternation reigned around Ibrox pre-match. The anticipated fireworks failed to materialise as Jim McColl’s statement was treated as a damp squib by supporters who have given the impression in recent days they would happily burn effigies of Green on Edmiston Drive.

Instead, they milled around outside the stadium discussing the future of their club, all of them holding out for a hero in pinstripes for once, rather than royal blue polyester.

The atmosphere in the ground was almost as muted, beyond a back catalogue of songs which, like the Green regime itself, could do with being replaced.

One solitary protest banner stating “support the team, not the regime” was hoisted – but by the 1500 travelling Newcastle fans who could tell a tale or two about unpopular club owners.

Green slipped into the directors’ box around 90 seconds after kick-off, unnoticed by most fans, and was bookended by the Easdale brothers who don’t just own a fleet of buses but are built like them as well.

A few rows behind sat chief executive Craig Mather with Ally McCoist and if the Rangers fans are still to be convinced by their manager’s abilities to coach his team, they are at least comforted by his presence as a guardian of their best interests.

In light of the League Cup exit at Forfar and the resignation of chairman Walter Smith, McCoist has had little to smile about these last few days.

However, he was afforded a grin as his side took the lead after five minutes following a fine, sweeping move started by Bilel Mohsni in his own half.

He threaded a pass down the left for Lee Wallace, who made hay before releasing Clark inside and he timed his run to perfection and was preparing to shoot when he was barged to the ground by Fabricio Coloccini.

Skipper McCulloch stepped up and slotted the resulting penalty into the corner of the net beyond former Falkirk keeper Tim Krul.

Newcastle tried desperately to get back on level terms and a volley from Mathieu Debuchy straight from Yohan Cabaye’s corner on the left was brilliantly beaten away by Bell.

The Rangers keeper knew little about a 25-yard effort from Cabaye minutes later but his shot flew inches wide.

Bell was alert again to block a dipping, swerving shot from 30 yards by full-back Davide Santon and Steven Taylor also scraped the bar with a shot from distance as half-time approached.

However, Rangers were not exactly passengers and Wallace again made gains down the left before squaring for Jon Daly, although his shot from 16 yards was well held by Krul.

McCoist emerged from the directors’ box to the dugout at the start of the second half and was immediately greeted with a chorus of “Super Ally”.

He responded with a wave and within 10 minutes fans in the Broomloan Road had turned their ire on Green for the first time in the match.

How the worm has turned. Asked to clap hands if they hated SFA chief executive Stewart Regan on the first day of last season at Brechin, Green reacted like a performing seal.

This time? He didn’t appear to have hung around to hear the taunts from the same song with his seat between the Easdales vacated for the second half. Many Rangers fans will hope that remains the case permanently in the very near future.

On the field the home side started the second half much more brightly and even after a raft of substitutions they still looked like the side most likely to add to their lead.

Clark came close moments after the restart only to see Krul touch his 12-yard shot over the bar.

Taylor squandered a good chance to equalise for Newcastle midway through the second half when he fired a shot wildly over after being slipped in on the right hand side of the box.

Rangers immediately marched up the field with a sweeping move and when the ball broke to sub Andy Little he let rip from 25 yards with a thunderous drive that scraped the top of the bar.

Newcastle sub Ameobi then almost nodded his side level after 77 minutes but his header looped wide of Bell’s post.

Rangers looked on course for a victory but were caught napping in the last minute when Richard Foster was careless in possession and Ameobi ran on to clip a shot over Bell from 14 yards.

RANGERS – Bell, Foster, Mohsni, Peralta (Aird 76), Wallace (Hegarty 68), McCulloch (Faure 45), Clark, Black (Murdoch 58), Daly (Little 60), McLeod (Crawford 45), Law (McKay 62). Subs (not used) Gallacher, McAusland, Gasparotto, Mitchell.

A few mates were over at the game. Said Newcastle looked poor and that there were a lot of crunching tackles.
