Yes...........I support Rovers; but in the 70's I was living in West London and was aware of the success City were having in the old First Division. There was a grudging admiration for Gerry Gow who seemed to embody the spirit of Bristol (City). It was a disgrace that as one of the Ashton Gate 8 he (amongst others) never got the testimonial his service deserved. Just a point, Gerry Gow wasn't one of the Ashton Gate Eight. The eight were:- Julian Marshall, Chris Garland, Jimmy Mann, Peter Aitken, Geoff Merrick, David Rodgers, Gerry Sweeney and Trevor Tainton. Gerry Gow left Bristol City for Manchester City in 1981 a year before the Ashton Gate Eight.
