Don't get me wrong Gerrard's a very good centre back at this level, reads the game well, shouts a lot, scores the odd goal, but he reminds me a lot of Wayne Brown.
If we sign him on a long term deal will he be fast enough for the Prem?
Is this what NP is thinking by bringing Jack Hobbs in?

Jack Hobbs is a very talented footballer and will develop into a great CB in the next couple of years, if we sign him permenantly in the summer we will have Rosenior, Chester and Hobbs all under 25 with years of football ahead of them, and all eager to sucseed. If we sign Gerrard on a permenent deal (doubt we will) and Mannone (possible) we would have a young capable defencive unit all under 26!!!

Great signing if NP pulls it off

Wayne Brown was a bit older so maybe Gerrard wouldn't look as much out of place. There are a few playing in the Premiership that are not that quick like Upson and Terry, so it's possible to adapt.

By fast are you meaning pace or reactions? Cos i've heard Hobbs isnt a speed merchant.

To be honest I think if Chester keeps going the way he is him and gerrard would be ok in the prem. IMO a perfect cb pairing is a big bruiser tackler who gets stuck in, wins everything in the air and commands defence (gerrard) and a nippier more technical player to cover (Chester)

I agree with you midlands, look at all teams with decent defenses, they all have a hardman and a technical man
    Man Utd - Vidic/Ferdinand
    Chelsea - Terry/Ivanavic (Luiz now)
    Liverpool - Carragher/Agger

    to name a few

I think Gerrard's doing a great job for us, but he lacks finesse, he hoofs a lot.

I'd be happy for him to stay, but there's no way he's worth £1.5m and this 'Premier League clubs in for him' thing on Sky is probably bollocks.
