It was revealed today that Reds skipper Steven Gerrard is to be transferred to Swansea city in one of the seasons biggest transfer coups. The news broke as the Merseyside club let slip the players valuation at a recent Premier League Chairman's meeting. Based on the Liverpool Transfer Calculator (LTC) and accounting for recent transfer speculation over Swansea's own Miguel Michu this has valued Gerrard at £6. The cost of the stamp to send his player registration to the FA at the tender age of 16 was £1, this was the only cost involved for Liverpool in signing Gerrard as Gerrard is an academy product at anfield. As such the board at Anfield were delighted to accept a bid from Swans chairman Hugh Jenkins as this represented 'a healthy 600% return' on the midfielder's initial cost. reports that Michu would be sold for £6-8m to Liverpool (for a healthy return) after signing for £2m this summer were labelled 'full of ****' by Sir Michael Laudrup. As Brendan Rodgers held to his guns over the fiscally enigmatic LTC calculations, he was forced to concede that this self same tool valued Gerrard at less than a tenner and thus Swans chairman Hugh Jenkins 'Bit his hand off' with a £6 cash offer, safe in the knowledge that the Mersey club had received a 'fair valuation' and a 'healthy return' on the player. Liverpool fans were clearly delighted to receive this fair sum and look forward to buying Leroy Lita for £8m (as calculated by the LTC of course).
Seriously, who the **** would want to sign an old has been like Gerrard ? did you see him play today? shocking honestly!! Michu may well leave but it wont be this season ans it wont be to Liverpool either. Only Liverpool fans still think they are a big club, everyone else regards them as a former big club,a team that used to be good but isnt anymore, they are a mid table team and struggling to hold onto the coat tails of the likes of Everton,Spurs and Newcastle .
He's over priced at £6 in my books! Sorry steve but he's far too expensive, for what you get!.................
cracking come back by Brendan men today so credit where credits due.....back to back wins shows he is starting to get liverpool back to winning ways..
please log in to view this image We'll soon change that Dai, and wipe the smile of his blarney face! I want 6 points off the 'Swansea Reserves'..........
Probably the best come back fro a side ever they were fantastic , that'a a side which will be pushing for at least fourth and possibly higher . It's great to see lucas back and Joe playing in his correct position. I don't know what the ref saw but that was not a penalty .Shelvey playing as a striker was a fantastic positional change by Brendan and not many managers would be brave to do it ,the man is a tactical genius ,I know we bang on about Laudrup but really folks have we got the right man ?
..i dont think we have Bony, the way Liverpool passed the ball today was quite outstaanding from 1-11 i thought they were fantastic, joe allen?well, he may only be 5ft4' but he plays like he is 7ft'4 !! (like andy caroll then?) the group were superb and they showed great charactor to come back into the game when going a goal behind, you can tell they worked hard OFF the ball and closed down the spaces....
very good post.. I would not bet against them getting 4th thats for sure, they are starting to look good and hard to beat....I think we have a good manager in laudrup but they are both good at what they do best and if Brendan can manage to get michu off us then the sky will be the limit for them......Its a pity we cant compete in the wages market that allows us to keep players when they have their heads turned to the amount they can earn....
..it was a clear case of Brendens TRAINING coming off, did i say training?? i meant education..you train dogs dont you? yes you train dogs and you educate players!!, great education by brenden today the way he educated the players to beat west ham was quite brilliant at times ..
