Looks like all is not well with Gerrard and Cardiff. He was our player of the year and very solid at the back. http://www.cardiff.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=273409
It says he's not happy at being third choice there. I can't see him being satisfied with the same situation here.
Because they are still young I can see Chester and Hobbs developing into the best centre-back pairing we've ever had (if we can keep them). Gerrard is a great defender and it would be good to have him as back-up, but I think he sees himself as a first team regular and he could be trouble if he doesn't get that.
If we are successful in gaining promotion--Gerrard will be of no use--a lot like Wayne Brown, great organiser but too slow
i have been saying all season that Anthony Gerrard is seeing out his contract @ Cardiff and will leave them in the summer on a FREE. AG is only in the team due to Mark Hudson injury. AG maybe lucky to get a bench spot now in the CC Final. He does not want to be there. He has tweeted as much a few times already. Dont rule out him being back here in the summer. imo.
I agree, getting Gerrard will depend on circumstances at the time i.e. still having McShambles on the wage bill, Prem club bidding for Chester if we dont go up etc. However, I think there will be definitely contact made from our side. Saying that I bet NP will want him also
in some PL games he would be, imo. would be a great addition to the squad especially as he would get for only wages.
why ? where do you expect NP to be manager of then next season ? If Hull City want him i expect AG to be here.
It's my understanding that free agents generally tend to ask for significant signing on fees, specially when there's demand, so he may not be as free as you'd like to think.
££££££££££££ - thats what will be the ultimate factor in Gerrard's decision! I think we will definitely make a move for him but like other transfers in the past, we wont break the bank and if somebody else offers more then we may miss out.
If that's the case, then he won't go in for him and this discussion is completely pointless(though there was no issue between Gerrard and Pearson as far as I'm aware).
first of all NP is no longer with Hull City and 2nd it came to a head @ DQPR away game. we shall be in the driving seat IF especially if we are back in the PL. infact, by getting Gerrard and Turner back for the PL would be worth around 10 goals a season alone.
