So Germany have win this particular trophy three times now, and as far as I remember, when you win the trophy three times you keep it and a new one is designed ... Brazil won the Jules Rimet trophy three times and in 1970 they kept it, and this design replaced it in 1974 when Germany won it the first time ... Germany won the Jules Rimet once ... so do Germany now keep this trophy forever? That was the rule as far as I remember, and this current World Cup trophy should now go to Germany for keeps, and a new one should be in place for 2018 Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Have been asking this all day. Strange no-one on the telly box mentioned it. Technically, this is the first time a united Germany have won it of course. Would that make a difference to FIFA ?
Who cares? Sitting in Lanzarote listening to endless car horns going, wonder what it's like everywhere else? Won't be a sunbed free for weeks.
It would appear that this will no longer happen...... http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...ophy-despite-becoming-three-time-winners.html The original Jules Rimet trophy, awarded to Brazil permanently in 1970, was stolen in 1983. It is widely believed to have been melted down. The current trophy, 75% of which is 18 carat gold, is estimated to be worth in excess of £10million. No wonder FIFA don't want to let it go.
