Will never forget him scoring the winner past Bonetti in 1970.
    Great striker.
    RIP.

Muller had no pace, but he was as strong as an Ox and had a very low centre of gravity.
Another gone from the golden age of football
    RIP Gerd

Muller, Maradonna, Aguerro, Messi - the same low centre of gravity statures that have excelled at scoring.

There aren't that many with the opposite physique that can compete with them - Ronaldo and Lewandowski perhaps at the moment.

I'm too young to remember him playing; however, his record speaks for itself. A legend of the game.

Same for me - far too young.........<whistle>

Seriously, I can go back further to another low centre of gravity German who was very much in the same mould as Muller only a bit earlier. In '68 I was at NP (as a nipper) when he came over with SV Hamburg and helped knock us out in the semi final of the ECWC - his name, Uwe Seeler - another true short arse who couldn't stop scoring.

Before that, my dad used to rave about a certain Ferenc Puskas - anyone on here remember him? Never saw him but I think he was another one in the same low CG mould - and for that matter what about our very own Greavsie?

Exciting player TC2, but nowhere near as prolific as Muller and the others mentioned.

Must admit I enjoyed his management style at Newcastle - didn't he say "if you score 4 then we'll score 5" or something like that?

The Galloping Major and captain ( I think) of the Mighty Magyars.
My Dad was at Wembley in 53 when they beat England 6-3.
He told me years later he'd seen a totally different way of playing football during that game. Wont forget how he raved about Puskas and Hidegkuti during their career in 50s and 60s.
