Bristol City head coach Gerhard Struber has been nominated for October’s Championship Manager of the Month award, with the Robins’ impressive form over the course of the last month seeing the Austrian shortlisted as one of four candidates in the second tier.

The Reds and Struber started the month on a disappointing note as they entered the October international break with a 2-1 defeat to Queens Park Rangers at Ashton Gate. While that result left a mood of frustration in and around BS3 over the interval, City bounced back in the perfect fashion, starting with their trip to Norwich City a fortnight later.

Mark Sykes’ first goal of the season proved to be enough for the Robins to beat Liam Manning’s Canaries 1-0 at Carrow Road. Just three days later, the Reds came from behind to get the better of Southampton, courtesy of an impressive Scott Twine brace, before the three-game week and October itself was wrapped up with three points against Birmingham City.

In total, the Reds claimed nine points from a possible 12 available over the course of the month. Such a haul is worthy of credit alone, but it becomes even more impressive when the Reds’ current injury situation is considered.

Unlike the goal of the month competition, supporters are unable to vote for the manager of the month award. Instead, the winner will be decided by the Sky Bet Manager of the Month judging panel, which comprises Danny Wilson, Don Goodman, and Sky Bet EFL trader Ivor Davies.

The winner will be announced on Friday, November 14. Until then, here are the four candidates to scoop the award in the second tier in October...
