Sad news today ... Gerard Houllier has died after surgery apparently ... thought he was a smashing guy who always acted with dignity and gravitas ... RIP
Not the most respectful title imo bro. Great man, dragged us out the gutter and gave me my 1st real reasons to celebrate as a fan. Legend in my eyes
Always remember the 2nd leg against roma at Anfield, we needed a 2 nil win (or win by 2 goals can't remember) Mr Houllier had left hospital & surprised everyone by turning up and taking a seat just before kick off, it raised the roof and the team responded brilliantly by winning that game and going onto win 5 cups that year. Loved the guy tbh
Quite liked him despite his allegiances tbh. He knew where Liverpool’s place was. Good manager and he made some very good signings. Didn’t he manage Villa as well?
My second username on the old BBC 606 forum was "Houllier Than Thou" in honour of him. Great ex-manager. Had faults as we all do, but took us into the modern age. Was the first manager at liverpool when I first got back into watching football.
