    According to George Caulkin of The Times (on Twitter):

    So surely we've agreed a fee for Pieters considering Jose's having a medical at Liverpool today. Do you think we'll sign in time for the Arsenal game?

    I still wouldn't be sure of it, knowing us. Hopefully it's true and we'll have him signed by today and ready to play for Arsenal.

    Not sure if he's fully fit atm to be able to play on sat if we were to get him, PSV only played him for a half in their last match, although that might have just been precautionary.

    Apparently there's no fee to be agreed. Release clause means direct negotiations with the player once we offer that amount, like with Cabaye.

    When I saw the piece about us waiting until we had a replacement, I thought "fair play. Toon being sensible for once"


    Then we sold him anyway. :emoticon-0102-bigsm

    Then PSV came out and said Pieters wasn't allowed to leave.

    Then the reports are 'Newcastle are still showing an interest but no deal in place'


    Then I thought "Mint. Here we go again"
