Has just posted this about the unwashed:

    @CaulkinTheTimes
    George Caulkin
This is all in piece, but as of last published accounts #SAFC wage bill was 82% of turnover. Too high. Henderson has brought cash in ...

    CaulkinTheTimes George Caulkin
... But only earned 20k per week. 3 Mufc players + Ngog etc would bump up wages again. Need to get rid of likes of Nos, McCart, Kilgallon...

    CaulkinTheTimes George Caulkin
... Riveros, Angeleri + potentially likes of Gordon, Malb, to clear decks & leave space for better players. Necessary housekeeping.

Would suggest all is not so rosey for those up the road!!!

Just an observation nothing more before any of the hicks come one here for an argument

It's like a lot of clubs running above there means, think we are a bit ahead of the game now with the structure we have in place.
Sounds like a mass clear out and start again at the SOS!!

All the clubs are clearing out - Arsenal, Spurs, Mackems, MAn U, Chelsea - we should have a look at signing some of these players.

There is no player in the Mackems squad that I'd really want, maybe Bardsley but that is it.

Quinny actually seems alright nothing like Fat Freddie, it's Agent Brucie doing a fine job. Claiming to shop in Harrods when really he's dodging out to Lidl <laugh>

I was reading that Welbeck won't be signing for them permanant either <laugh>

  11. Newcastle's used to actually be 91% due to players like owen ( got to club by shearer but conveniently forgotten) and the bloke who is actually sorting mags out is actually mike ashley. He is basically doing this by getting rid of high earners (carol, barton, nolan, enrique etc) and getting cheaper players. This needs to be done at sunderland as well, the first thing at sunderland should be to get rid of obese geordie fool bruce, I'd trust Shakin stevens more to buy players. This is not a criticism of ashley btw i think he's totally in the right and the new european rules that come into effect in 2014 should, hopefully make for a more level playing field and upset the likes of man utd chelsea etc and remove some of the boredom from the 2 team premier league

They've certainly put us in the shadows.

When we went down our wage bill was only about 71% of the turnover (5th highest in the league that season).

I reckon Quinn & Short should open a pub chain and charge entrance fees on match day to get more money out of the supporters.

Agree with what your saying, are wage bill was daft but the critism of Shearer he was one of the best strikers in the EPL at the time so paying those kind of wages were justified.
The likes of Owen,Martins etc. who were a complete waste of time weren't. bit like Gyan £13 mill and hasn't really set the league a light.
Carroll,Barton,Nolan and Enrique aren't really high earners. Carroll and Enrique were/are on less than the £50K a week wage cap we have in place. Not sure what Nolan is on but Barton was prepared to take a cut to stay.

I've critisied MA for some of his decisions but also have acknowledge that the pay structure etc he has in place is working and worth while, it's also helped by the fact that we have one of the best scouts in the country who can turn up class players who cost very little to buy.

What has made me laugh is so many Mackems ripped into us saying we'd get destroyed and how worthless our team is, yet it's Sunderland who are having to clear out to be able to buy these days and we still have a good fondation of a team to build on.
If you are having a major clear out I see this as a step back, where we are adding to our squad to A) improve it and B) add depth to the squad since it was paper thin.

Not sure Ashley is actively looking to get rid of Barton, Nolan, Enrique etc .. nor (Barton aside) do I think they're on monster wages .. however, I'll relent due to your comedy description of Bruce and good use of Shakin Stevens upstanding name in the football business .. he doesn't get mentioned enough ..

So the unwashed need to get rid of their top earners. They also need 7-8 signings to replace the players that have left and also the players that they had on loan.

It is hard enough to sign 1 or 2 decent, value for money players, let alone sign 10-11.

it could be a tough summer for them.

You've hit the nail on the head there like. As much as Ashley pisses me off his financial prudence has probably saved us from administration. Scary **** really, if you think what might have happened if Shepherd stayed at the helm.

  19. Its not a criticism of sheraer, the player,BR. After all he has the 2nd best goals per minute record in the premiership behind solksjaer. It's just that it was shearer who got owen to newcastle that seems to have been conveniently forgotten.
