Peterborough United say midfielder George Boyd's proposed move to Nottingham Forest fell through because of an "eye test".

"Total disgrace, the whole thing," Posh chairman Darragh MacAnthony, He added: "George agreed terms with Forest on the phone and went there for a medical, but somehow ended up with Three members of Notts County’s squad who underwent eye tests at the West Bridgford branch of Notts County sponsors Vision Express on Thursday afternoon, George met up with Hamza Bencherif, Liam Mithcell and striker Enoch Showunmi to visit the opticians but not good news for George as Vision Express could only describe him as blind as a bat and the other three were delighted to be given the all clear by the friendly and helpful staff at Vision Express, who are in their second year as Notts County’s away shirt sponsors."
MacAnthony added "I did question his eyesight when he told me he kept seeing spots in front of his eyes, I asked George ‘Have you ever seen a doctor?’ George replied , ‘No, just spots.’

The blind ****er couldn't read the difference between Forest and County, I bloody told him to go to SpecSavers!

McLeish is rumoured to be considering resignation as a result of this non signing.

He didn't seem to have a problem when he scored from the halfway line. Hope it doesn't prove to be a long term issue.

Wouldn't be surprised if McLeish is given the boot. Forrest are becoming the Chelsea of the championship. Then again we're giving them a good run

The rumour he is resigning is utter BS, anyone who believes that is an enormous t!t...

First off AM is lucky he has a job in football full stop, let alone a club like Nott Forest. So he isn't likely to quit.

Secondly. Posh still want to loan Boyd out next week. He is the IDEAL player for me, and I know a few people on this board have wanted him for a few years.

Pull out the wallet AGAIN SL, get Darren Ambrose off of Birminghams heavy wage bill, with a loan to buy deal, and snap up Georgey Boyd!

Good point made by Simon Jordan (never thought I would say that) - he said that by acting like this Forest have done themselves no favours because other teams will be wary of dealing with them.
The Peterborough chairman is miffed about missing out on a fee (though i do basically get his point)
I feel sorry for Boyd - would happily see him at AG

George Boyd is outside the criteria the club has set for signings they have apparently decided buying older players just wastes money as there is little or no resale value in doing that so they are looking towards buying younger players who they hope will have a resale value towards the end of their contracts providing we have replacements of course.

This makes no sense, he would be a free signing and has only recently turned 27! He is in his prime, not to mention one of the better and more consistent players I've seen in the Championship over the years.

If it was a free signing that might be different, though listening to various people on player looks like they are trying to get the wage bill down I rather doubt if Boyd would be cheap.

What a complete farce - he doesn't seem to have too much trouble seeing the ball when he puts it in the back of the net and anyway, has anyone ever heard of contact lens...????!

Said this for years now. George Boyd would do nothing but improve our midfield he can play out left or in th middle. I can see Kelly becoming the more defensive midfielder over Skuse and Elliott.

    Imagin a midfield with
Albert (only until this summer) Kelly Boyd and Anderson
    After the summer
    Anderson Kelly Boyd Burns

When Peterborough came to us he put in a shift - skill and a good work ethic - there will be plenty of clubs after him in the summer

Perhaps he is colour blind and forest chairman was worried he'd pass to the opposition?
