told ya i have good sources! http://www.twtd.co.uk/news.php?storyid=18722&title=veteran_boateng_training_with_town
You might might have a midfield pairing with a combined age of 70 by the start of the season. George is a nice bloke, but his legs had gone when he left us and he's been on the beach in Greece for the past year.
Definitely not to fussed about this. I think as stated above, he's well passed his prime and to be honest we don't need any passengers next season, especially as he'd be on some quite high wages I would imagine.
Hence why I think he's training with us rather than signing for us. Unregistered players want to get fit as well, I don't think we'll sign him as Bowyer is in the same mold but better.
Boateng! Bloody hell Johnny Wark is available on a free and he would play for us for nothing! The age gap isn't that much between them either!
On serious reflection I think that Boateng could do a great job as the holding player in Midfield. You may remember Johnny's 3rd spell when he was the same age and look how he commanded the park he was immense. Boateng will have the experience of playing at the highest level throughout his career and his positioning and reading of the play will earn him a yard headstart. Carson, Martin & Leadbitter can be his legs. We have been far too powder puff in midfield expecially with Norris who had absolutely no positioning sense! I think if we sign him it could well be the best bit of business for the summer!
There's nothing wrong with experience. Wark, Mowbray, Venus, McGreal...they were all part of sides that got out of this division. If his wages arent too high, I reckon that this is an absolute no brainer.
and we have got youth aswell: Carson, Murray, Martin, Leadbitter, Cresswell, O'Connor, Whight...so weve got a good mix.
