The only chance we have at the next World Cup is to build a team where the collective is considerably superior to the individual components ...

No the only chance you have at the Next World Cup is if every other team pulls out and England win by default, I'd say.

The task facing Tuchel is enormous without doubt ... ask yourself this - how many of the current England squad would get into a starting line-up for Spain, Portugal or France?

You must rate the job Gareth did really highly if you think our squad is so average?

Last night was just a friendly, so a nothing game, this is the time we should be experimenting, but you are not doing that if you are still playing Kane and Walker. I'm not even a great fan of Bellingham, you can drop him to for all I care. I think Saka I can accept, because it can work but just didn't on the night. What's the point in bringing on Toney with just 3 ****ing minutes of normal time remaining, what are we learning, although what was funny was BBC giving him a higher player rating than Walker lol. I can't take Cole Palmer being on the bench, he needs to start speaking up for himself, he's too cool with it all and a very unselfish young man. I'm ok with Eze, I'm even ok with Gordon, the guy is just jinxed.

I don't follow much football at all now but the England thing is funny, why would you come in and use all these old guys? Build something new fgs.

That is exactly it for me Luv. I'd rather go and watch Wales at the moment, at least they try.

Exactly my point from earlier. The likes of Kyle Walker and Jordan Henderson should be no where near an England squad with a world up next year, what the **** was that about.

We aren't average at all, or shouldn't be.

When names like Palmer, Rice, Kane, Bellingham are being mentioned, and you can add the likes of Rodgers, Saka, Eze, Gibbs-White and even Mainoo to that, then no one can say with a straight face we shouldn't be able to create and score goals.

Back four remains a problem, always has. The likes of John Stones have always been grossly over rated. But if he can find a system and some players to fit it and be coached, we should also be fine there.

Nah ... last tournament we muddled through an incredibly fortunate side of a tournament draw - perhaps the easiest that any England team has had during my lifetime watching football ...

So what Southgate did.
