It was a common joke that City sponsored each corner flag to the tune of £20 million a season to circumnavigate a made up turnover figure, with made up sponsor from Abu Dhabi.

In plain sight. Could have been dealt with then, no ****er did anything. So they just kept on.

Fancy a brand new soon to be discarded centre back Pep? Let's make up a sponsor, it's fine.
Another left back for £60 million you fail to 'improve'? Let's make up another, because we certainly won't get it from ticket and merch sales.

You mean like the laws of the premier League that city have circumvented and are now suing to change?

Fuking lolz bro

The rule they're challenging only came in this season didn't it?

Completely separate to the ones they've already broken I thought.

I've noticed this ' the clubs voted for the rules ' but they didn't all vote for them and I believe city sat out the vote for sponsorship rules specifically.

Regardless like I say even if 20 people out of 20 people make a rule it won't make it legal.

Just be prepared to consider this.
I didn't vote for labour or the Tories

Why should I have to pay tax or follow the laws made in the UK, I didn't vote for them either.

Oh that's right because I live here

Namean

I can see you're already going to use mental gymnastics if the courts decide the rules are illegal.

Seems like you have another concern other than right from wrong

I'd agree enitrely to be honest. It's right for it to be tested as they should get the chance to argue their case but if they did break the rules then it's only fair they're accountable for it. Think most reasonable football fans think the same.

Whether the rules are good rules is a separate matter.

Almost certain that the rule they're challenging is something that was only voted in earlier this year to be implemented this season.

They're not challenging FFP/PSR as a whole. Though somebody should tbh.

Basically no, they're get thrown out of the competition they refuse to adhere to the rules of.

In any normal situation, the tail doesn't wag the dog. Let them **** off and form their own league with their own rules.

If the the rules aren't illegal I agree.. if not the rules are illegal and the people that made them are accountable.

This is just how it's going to work.

The Premier League shafted everyone below them for years and no one cared, then City came along and shafted everyone, I have to see the funny side of that.

I'd agree if they weren't still dolling out huge parachute payments to those relegated.

It doesn't trickle down much further, I do agree on that.

But pep improves every player he touches, except all this 50m+ duds he's bought to city over the years lol

Parachute payments have become a huge issue in the past decade or so since the money got really silly. Only had to look at ours, Leeds and Leicester's squad strength last season to see that.

So there is an actual law about football competitions making rules?

The Premier league going to jail and that, right?

There's laws of various types including competition law. It's going to come down to what is legal at the end of the day in regards to sponsorship.

Whatever the decision is that's the end of the debate.

I've seen the Premier League lose a CAT case vs Newcastle and now Leicester defeated them too... imo Man City will make it 3-0

Trouble is the parachute payments have now created a two tier system in the Championship, so you end up with yo yo clubs in the Prem.

Then when those teams come down to L1, we couldn't compete with them, well we couldn't compete with some because of fan base, we can live with that, part and parcel of life, but parachute payments as well, gave an unfair advantage...although I couldn't give you specific financial examples, only cause I can't be arsed.

Was nice to see Ipswich go up last season to show that sort of thing is still possible. Good for the league.
