Introducing the likes of Patrick Vallance and James Timpson into government is refreshing. People who know what they’re talking abahrt.

I have to say that just because PR has produced a difficult result in France doesn't mean it isn't the more valid way of holding elections. The French system is hardly PR anyway because the two votes allow all sorts of alliances and stitch ups to take place before the second vote. In fact our first past the post system would likely of resulted in a Le Penn government with at least a decent majority as they got 37.1% of the vote.

There is a petition on Change.org to get our system changed is anyone is interested.

In fact looking at the results in France it would seem to have a produced a similarly ludicrous result to ours.

    Party Seats Vote Percentage
New Popular Front (NFP) 188 26.3
    Ensemble (ENS) 161 24.7
National Rally Alliance (RN) 142 37.1
    Les Républicains (LR) 48 6.2
    Other 38 5.6

A true PR system (although no such thing exists) would have resulted in National Rally getting 214 seats, not having two parties with less votes winning more seats. Anyhow that's not our problem it's Monsieur Macron's.

    Oh dear.
All those wigs and stockings and ermine, and general tomfoolery. No wonder we're a laughing stock around the World.

Honestly, bin all that rubbish and let's have a grown-up Parliament can't we?

Turn the Houses of Parliament into a proper museum rather than a de-facto one.
Build a new Parliament chamber with a circular layout, like other modern Countries have.
And drop all the silly costumes.
I'm sure one of the reasons why People have such a low opinion of Politicians is they spend half the time doing things the way they've been done since 1724, while the rest of us have moved on 300 years.

    For pity's sake <doh>

What does Joe Biden think of the Labour idea that members of the House of Lords should retire at 80?

Joe Biden doesn’t think - he just says , if he remembers, what he’s told to say

As far as I'm concerned they can keep the money.

Another part of their ludicrous dead deal with the previous Government was that the UK accept some asylum seekers from Rwanda.
They can keep them as well now.
