Not heard of him before but that’s nothing new. I don’t want loans to the end of the season I want permanent buys.
He is quick, supposedly an upgrade on Atsu, but think he plays on the right mostly. Feel like this is a very unrealistic transfer target.
Don't get why we need another winger - Surely LB, AM and CF are the priorities and CM depending on Ki, Shelvey, Diame's fitness and Hayden's willingness to stick around. Give Murphy a run of games FFS.
If this happens that means him, Rondon and Kenedy would probably leave at the end of the season which would leave the team in a sorrier state and very reminiscent of sunderland a few seasons ago.
Just on Jacob Murphy I've seen this article tonight: https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/spo...en-creativity-newcastle-squad-player-15715879 Expected Assists (xA) The metric of xA measures the likelihood that a pass will become a goal assist, so it's an indicator of the quality of chances provided by a player and is more thorough than simply focusing on assists. Interestingly, Newcastle's leader in terms of xA this season is Jacob Murphy with 0.35 per 90 minutes, although he has played fewer minutes than most. Murphy's xA is double Ritchie's, who's in second place on 0.17 followed by Shelvey on 0.14. Crossing Finally, arguably Newcastle's most used means of attacking is crosses. Benitez utilises the physicality and aerial prowess of his strikers, particularly Salomon Rondon, by encouraging his players to hit crosses into the box whenever the opportunity is presented. Based on the figures, Newcastle have two very keen crossers in Ritchie and once again, Murphy. Both these players hit over five per 90, with Ritchie's success rate being slightly higher on 32% versus 26%. The lad has barely been afford 3.5 games so far this year out of 25 played. Shouldn't be written off as a complete bust yet as he hasn't been given a decent run of games. If Rafa isn't going to give him games this half of the season get him out on loan and use Aarons as the lads to sit around doing nothing...although I think both are worth a run.
I've not seen much of him at AM but a few times.for Portugal and when he was at sporting. Looked pretty handy. Sounds like the move to Spain hasn't worked out though.
Moise Kean though on the other hand - if there's a shred of truth to that I'd be all over him will be a top striker in the future but would do a job for us as a sub to run at teams on the wing/up top. Would be amazed if Juve let him come here though...
Got to line 2 and then realised this was more irrelevant boring stats. I could have saved you the time. Murphy is average to poor. Ritchie is far better. We wasted our money on Murphy and need to offload him minimising the money lost. Not one stat looked at, but 100% accurate.
So true. Murphy is just crap, end of. Never mind Ritchie - Atsu is much better. We also need shot of Kenedy mind.
We will in May,I take it that's the contract ie can't send him back early unless he's injured which he seems to be a lot more this season.
We might have cause to terminate early with his record. But won't unless we sign someone. I'd guess Rafa's digging heels in and saying "no, get me a ****ing player first, THEN release one". Our modus operandi under Ashley has ALWAYS been to sell first. I still think they run the "purple players" method, i.e. there's 11 purple places and each player can have one replacement. If you want another first team or sub, you have to sell the one you have first.
I think we just need to get some confidence back into Kenedy. Rafa must now realise that playing him at left back or left wing back is not an option. He spends far too much time worrying about runners and people getting behind him. Its wrecked his confidence to the point where he looks like he has a terrible touch. Wind back 11 months and we were saying how he looked so much better than the rest of our squad, his touch alone told you that. Perhaps if we'd bought Rafa a ****ing left back, Kenedy would still be looking like the player he was. I don't want to launch a massive defence of Rafa's use of him which has been poor, but I do think like most things at Newcastle, it comes back to Ashley. And steady on with the Atsu comments. Lets not get silly.
Yeah, I just think it's a case of the Thauvins, he just doesn't want to be here; he's at the club presumably because of Rafa, is probably aware Rafa's chucking it in 4 months from now and does believe - in some respects rightly - that he's better than NUFC. Depends what happens in the next week. If we get this much-vaunted left wingback/leftback solution, then Kenedy could/should be playing on the left of a front three with Rondon and Perez. However, the Gelson links suggest somethings afoot - whether thats sacking off Murphy or just sending Kenedy back, we're certainly not ending the season with 6 wingers.
