http://www.sport360.com/article/swedish-starlet-proving-there-more-life-liverpool? On the eve of Sweden’s friendly with England, Fulham winger Alexander Kacaniklic is convinced he made the right choice to leave Liverpool at the start of Roy Hodgson’s reign. Following Hodgson’s arrival at Anfield in the summer of 2010, Kacaniklic was offered to Fulham as part of the deal that saw Paul Konchesky head to Liverpool. While Konchesky now plies his trade in the Championship with Leicester City, 21-year-old Kacaniklic has burst into the Fulham first-team this season and has enjoyed an impressive start to the campaign as the Cottagers sit ninth in the Premier League, four places above his former club. He has also broken into Sweden’s senior side and is regarded as one of the country’s most exciting prospects. The pacey winger was part of the Sweden side that rescued a miraculous draw against Germany having trailed 4-0 with less than 30 minutes left to play. Kacaniklic came through the ranks at Liverpool having signed as a youngster from Swedish club Helsingborg. And as he prepares to face Hodgson for the first time since leaving Liverpool, the winger admits he had to leave the Reds to develop his career and while the England boss decided to sell him, Kacaniklic insists there are no hard feelings. "I didn't speak to Roy Hodgson that much at Liverpool. I was only there for a month or two when he was manager,” Kacaniklic said. "It was my decision to leave and go to Fulham and he let me go. It was up to me if I wanted to go. "I had to move to develop my career. It has gone very well at Fulham and it feels like I made the right move and it was a good decision. "I am not out for revenge. Like I said, it was my decision and Roy is a good coach. He's done a lot of good things in football and is well respected throughout the game." Kacaniklic revealed how he is looking forward to a reunion with Steven Gerrard after admitting the England captain was a big help when he was coming through the ranks at Liverpool. He added: "When I was young I trained with the first-team squad at Liverpool, with people like Jamie Carragher and Steven Gerrard. "Steven was a great help, passing on good advice about things like passing. He is one of the players I look up to. "It will be nice to meet him again and to get to 100 caps is a fantastic achievement."
I truly believe that Roy Hodgson had an any two young players for Konchesky.....Could you imagine if he had let Sterling and Suso go....lol
1. i think it was a poor deal at the time. 2. i didn't think the lad had enough about him to make it with us and we had ince, sila and stelring coming fast... ince had to go also. 3. is he really that good or is he a useful but average prem player? I must say we are where we are now due to terrible buys like downing and adam who nobody wanted and a repeat of disasterous policy this summer. one forward and that one forward is doing it all. when oh when will our club learn that lesson, bit us in 2009 and is still biting us.
It was a bad deal, as Konchesky was in the Sean Dundee league of signings we've made, a list that includes Paul Ince, Jean Michel Ferri, Daniel Padelli, Itsvan Kozma, Julian Dicks, Paul Stewart and Michael Stensgaard. Delle Valle has left Fulham, is he at Brighton now?. I know he's in the championship.
I keep hearing Dalle Valle's name mentioned. Seems to be doing well. Nice one, Roy. The equivalent now would be Borini in for Carroll out.
Would that be the Andy Carroll that cost £35m, hardly scored for us, and hasn't scored in a team that is more suited to his strengths?
Yeah, Ince. He got too big for his boots and there was strong rumours at the time he was leaking private club information, he was called by many as the ''KOP Mole''. It was his overall atitude and possibly this reason why Gerard Houllier kicked him out.
hated every time i saw ince in a liverpool shirt - just could not like the guy his first day at liverpool training the team were told to go for a run - what did ince say to phil thompson "I DON'T DO RUNNING" -
Jeez, that's a blast from the past...!!! He just came on, waved his arms about to get the crowd going, and never touch the ball for the rest of the match... A legend in his own home that bloke...
Although Eril Meijer didn't do a lot, he's loved by liverpool fans for being a nutcase. He was called ''Mad Erik'' by many, and is in the Igor Biscan league of cult hero's.
