With all the current spiel on strikers and who we might want etc, does anyone actually know anything regarding the man formally known as 'Get in Gedo' ? Can we have him? Do we want him? Does he want us?
There were a lot of posts on twitter the last couple days that he was flying in for a meeting with the club about a permanent move.
There's no Egyptian League again and another uprising and uncertainty so it will be an attractive option to him. He knows the club, area, players, etc. But did Bruce see anything in him last season. I think he's worth a punt but as already mentioned due to injury he's not available yet anyway.
I'd take him but not as our main options so prob him and nick p as backups. Unless he's got something in his locker we didn't see I'd be disappointed if he was brought in as one of our main targets. If he's injured and not back till October why sign him now y not wait till jan?
He is back in Hull the club picked him up from Heathrow this afternoon. Booked in for treatment to see how far off he is from full recovery
According to some random accounts on Twitter, Gedo has flown to the KC Stadium to discuss a permanent move. If we can get him for under £1m then fair enough, I'd take him but he's not worth the gamble if the fee turns out to be a tad over the top. Even though I don't believe any of the Gedo rumours are true at all.
He had something like 6 goals in 12 games and he was injured for a bunch of those games. He is probably a 20 goal a season championship striker. That type of player is worth a lot more than the amount you quote.
I don't think Gedo will cost much at all in fee or wages, and considering the type of strong, athletic, energetic player he is, I think it would be a shame not to go for him if only to use as an impact sub. He's the body direct player I've seen in a city shirt for a long time, certainly very different to anyone we already have or have been linked with. Obviously Ahly could be asking for £2 million, which in the current market for a striker is hardly a packet at all, in which case I'd leave him unless we had that much lying around spare at the end of the window (unlikely)
I know he wasn't fully fit, but I think he was championship standard at best and have no desire to see him back at the KC.
I thought he looked a more instinctive striker than Proschwitz, Fryatt or McLean, all of whom we are still saddled with. I'd go for him and get rid of one of the others.
I think Gedo is good enough but he clearly got tired and couldn't cope with our league. Give him more time and he's be very very handy. However Fathi exuded skill and talent imo. Shame he didn't have that many chances.
I agree with this too, would happily take both of them. EPL is a lot about depth of squad afterall and I don't think either would break the bank.
I think people are looking into this too much. Our club has an agreement with Al Ahly that they can use our medical facilities if they need to (theirs can't be very good), which probably explains why he's here. I'd be happy with him being back, he looked a great finisher and his injury clearly hampered his playing time. If a deal can be struck, I'd be happy to have him back, along with Fathi; both have said they'd be happy to come here as full time players. If SB misses out on his top targets and is left without a decent striker, I wouldn't be surprised to see him come in.
I'd be happy with Gedo. You get less chances at this level so having a striker who can finish properly is an even bigger deal than last year. We'd still need someone a bit bigger but if we can't get Hooper I'd happily take Gedo as our smaller striking option.
