Randomly going through twitter and Le Tiss retweeted it. I don't think he is ready and is worse than Davis no matter what form they both are in
Nigel's decision to make. Might give Kelvin a shake up. Paulo looked a little flappy at times vs Stevenage (I attended), but he did have Seaborne and Richardson in front of him, hardly convincing. Gotta give the boy his chance.
It's still just a rumour. I really wouldn't trust any news that comes from twitter. Having said that that was where the Gaston to Saints news started!
Would incredibly stupid decision for Adkins to make. He needs to sort the defence out first before blaming Davis. The full backs have been **** defensively so far and you look at the statistics and there is no hiding for Clyne and Fox. I don't care if Clyne has pace and looks good to unknowledgable spectators. He has been terrible and made the defence very nervy with his erratic nature at both ends of the pitch.
I would say over the 4 games Clyne has probably been the best member of the back four. For me it goes in this order.... 1. Clyne 2. Fonte 3. Hooiveld 4. Fox Anyone else?
Whilst I highly doubt the believability of any rumour started by a falsafied Facebook post, I do believe that we should start with Gazzaniga in goal tomorrow. Kelvin is a wonderful servant to the club and clearly an inspiration to the team as evidenced by his role as club captain. However, he has definitely looked slightly off in the first four games this season in comparison to previous years; he has seemed slower to react to shots, less confident of his shot-stopping ability and poor with his cross collection. Aston Villa's lack of attacking threat has been much-mentioned. Last year, only Stoke had less shots on target than Aston Villa of all 20 Premier League sides and only Benteke looks a real danger up front. On average this season, Aston Villa have only managed 7 shots per game compared to our 9.5 despite losing all four of our opening fixtures against arguably stronger opposition than those that Aston Villa have faced. So yes, I would like to see Gazzniga start in goal tomorrow, I'd hate to have a repeat of the Bialkowski saga where a talented, young player loses all confidence due to little/no playing time.
I bet you only think Clyne has played "****" because he scored an own-goal last weekend? He's easily been the best performer in an arguably weak defensive five so far this season.
Bart was with us for years, Paulo only been here a few months! I'm with super Kelv, let PG have the cup games & force his way in.
If pushed I would place Fox above Hooiveld. But defending is a team business so I don't really want to start ranking individuals. Anyway I expect Yoshida to start tomorrow so let's see how that goes.
What are you on about? Deflected own goals are unavoidable. He's been wasteful with the ball and left far too much space in behind. The tackles he makes that look good on the eye are because he's out of position or lost the ball to start with. Fonte has been our best defender.
It isn't as simply as ranking players. Hoovield has been shocking but it hasn't helped the full backs positioning has been so bad. We've been poor as a unit including the keeper. If Davis is feeling the heat with his experience then Gazzaniga will be a bag of nerves
Ummm that is very bold statement....I can assure you there is a very large number of fans that like what they see in Clyne and I can guarantee they are equal too, but most likely, far more knowledgeable than you are on football matters. If you disagree with them fine, suggest you do not bring football knowledge into it. That could potentially cause arguments so would be grateful if you would refrain from such comments....thanks in anticipation...... On your other point I would agree that while no doubt Davis has made some mistakes which has eventually cost us points. The younger goal keeper does not have in my view the experience to be thrown in yet. In fact neither of the younger ones do. Surely it would not be the right time for Davis to be dropped with so much depending on the game. Mind you who knows...as others have said we have no choice but to trust NA's judgement. Personally I do not think the goalkeeper will be changed for tomorrows game.....
Never said it wasn't about being a unit. I'm just saying if I individually go through the back four - that's how well I think they have played thus far.
Stats don't lie: Clyne has won 68.75% of his tackles. That makes him 8th best tackler in the PL so far, ahead of fellow RB Jenkinson of Arsenal. Passing: 87.5% passing rate in the defensive half. 78% in the attacking half and 76.47% in the final attacking third. His passing is also in the top stats, so he's done alright so far.
Gills fan in peace. Would be nice to see you give Paulo a start for tomorrow, I have noticed Kelvin making some mistakes in the televised games (especially his kicking). For the couple of people who said that he looked a bit flappy on his debut, don't forget he's gone from playing 19 games in League 2 to playing for premier league in 8 months. I would have kacked myself too aha. You will find that in the future Paulo will be a very good acquisition for yourselves and I wish you luck for the rest of the season. Always had a soft spot for the Saints
Thank you for your good wishes......... personally for me at least I think it is too early in his career to be rushed into the first team. Especially when so much is at stake..............He needs time to adapt and get used to playing and being around large crowds. Especially if you read some of the posts you will see the crowd is very unforgiving.........
