I accept that view and to an extent I agree its double standards. But this site isn't predominantly known as a site for fans of modern pop/blues fans. It's a site for football chat. You lot said, it begin life as a Scottish football forum and was adapted when normal 606 closed.

The point I feel it started to get a bit stupid, was when both Syd and Mick requested that you stop (double standards or otherwise) too many on here saw that as a challenge to continue. All the situation required was for a bit of maturity from both the GC regulars and the Newcastle lads and you'd have been left alone to continue talking about anything other than Speed (within a week I don't think anyone would've been as angry and you could've gone back to posting about any topic, speed included) but as it was, its just brought a whole level of bile out of everyone and for what? A slightly hazy set of principals?

 

That's way, way too much sense for us GC Spastics, I'm afraid.

Both sides overreacted to the point where it became unreal. I even had two laptops on the go so I could double spam the Dog Rape page. I was still laughing the entire time though, instead of getting on a soap-box about "respect"

For me, that's the difference between the two groups. Two completely polar senses of humour. Nobody forced anyone to read the stuff on General Chat, free choice and all that eh?
